Description
When I was in high school, roughly from 2012 to 2015, I have made a dozen of sketches about Palestine using cheap colored pencils or watercolors. My intention was to transform them into solid , and more artistic oil paintings when I grow up. Looking back at them now, I felt like not doing most of them and rather mark them as only creations that remind me of a beautiful period of my life.

However, I have decided to actually adapt some to the canvass especially this one which is so relevant nowadays as we are witnessing all the forms of dispossession that the Palestinian people are subjected to. After seeing last year's incident of Israeli settlers displacing and forcing Palestinian citizens out of their homes in Cheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem, I have decided to paint this one in solidarity with their cause and daily suffering at the hands of Israeli forces and settlers.

I have decided to maintain the same artistic touch and simplicity of the original sketch so it conveys a child's touch which might relate to innocence or looks as if it was painted by a child. At least this is how I saw it.

Ps. I remember having one the paintings of Sliman Mansour, the renowned Palestinian painter, as an inspiration for this painting.
