Description (2008) 5 1/2" x 10 1/2" Pencil on Paper. Processed and framed in Photoshop.

The 6s stabilize and order the unbridled and sometimes destructive energy of the 5s and are associated with the sun, with clarity, order and energy of life.

For the cups the energy of the sun heightens emotions to just pure, unconditional happiness. We find within us a wellspring of creativity, contentment, charisma, success and the ability to let ourselves go with the flow and to tap into synchronicity.

What better to symbolize this card than that old felix felicis potion, the magic stuff that simply will not let you fail and that will allow you to do just the perfect thing at the right time - and six little glasses to share your good fortune with your friends?

Thank you. I've always been fascinated by it. I love working with it, I collect it - I guess drawing it is just one more step.

Indeed. Lovely, as always - both Your detailed drawing and fine text.

Thanks so much! This was fun to draw, because I could actually work from a real arrangement of glass.

What a great symbol for this card! I love the potion bottle and Felix Felicis with the sharing for six is a wonderful concept!

Thank you! This was great work with reference, because I own the flagon and the little handled shot-glasses. So I filled things up with a little ginger ale (because the potion is described as pale golden) and then just sat down to draw. Normally my reference materials are much lower quality.

How great is that! What a fun way to draw with your own things as reference - very cool!

huh, scratch part of that last bit xD I wasn't paying attention and didn't realise it was a potion; thought it was alcohol.
Still like it!

brilliant concept; I saw the thumbnail and didn't look too hard to tell what was in the picture; I was expecting some girl in a sunset or something. You absolutely pleasantly suprised me. I really like the bittersweet message this gives off.
Fantastic

Gosh, I need a whole steaming vat of that stuff....
I know you're really not supposed to take it more than once or twice in your life, because of the side effects, but hey, I ish a bad girl with very bad lucks.

Ellygator In reply to IllusionalLove [2008-10-05 13:01:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it would be my potion of choice as well.

IllusionalLove In reply to Ellygator [2008-10-05 20:42:13 +0000 UTC]

Polyjuice potion isn't bad, either....
But it's probably not really worth it since you have to brew it for months and then you only get a small time allotment to do your dirty work....How annoying.

Ellygator In reply to IllusionalLove [2008-10-05 22:34:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, plus I suck at imitating people's voices and accents, so I'd always be found out anyways...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IllusionalLove In reply to Ellygator [2008-10-06 03:43:37 +0000 UTC]

Well, in the books you automatically assume the voice of that person that you're falsely disguised as, but in the movie you just assume the form of that person and you have to fake the voice.
I guess the directors thought it would be funnier that way.
What one HP character would you most want to disguise yourself as?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ellygator In reply to IllusionalLove [2008-10-06 12:58:51 +0000 UTC]

That's a good point, I guess you'd have the person's voice as far as the body and physiology determines pitch etc, like a deeper voice for a man, or a high-pitched voice if you transformed into a child, but you'd need to fake the voice properties that are introduced by experience and environment such as accent, figures of speech that a typical for that person, so it's probably a mix of both.

As for who's hair I'd put in my potion, I think for the benefit of the story probably Dumbledore's because you'd have access to all the secrets of Hogwarts and all that magic - I'd just snoop around and learn as much as I could. For my personal benefit probably Narcissa's...

IllusionalLove In reply to Ellygator [2008-10-07 18:27:43 +0000 UTC]

I think physical mannerisms are harder to pick up than vocal properties.
For example,if you look too nervous somebody's bound to pick some sort of clue up.
Too bad the potion doesn't allow for the transformation into animals, but being an Animagus gives you that permanent quality, doesn't it? I daresay Rita Skeeter's beetle transformation was genius for snooping, but I wouldn't want to become that creature since it is very likely some squeamish student would smack me flat with one of those heavy textbooks....A little dangerous, I must conclude. Maybe an owl would be more beneficial. Nobody in Hogwart's would dare kill an owl, would they? They would think that they would be harming some other student's property, so it would be almost foolproof.

Ellygator In reply to IllusionalLove [2008-10-07 18:33:03 +0000 UTC]

Good point on the behavior, and yeah, some animagus forms are surely better than others and more practical. You don't want to be too small, weak or tasty, or you could become someone's meal. On the other hand, too frightening and flamboyant could get you in trouble with the aurors, like being a lion or other dangerous animal. Middle-of-the road, and perhaps somewhat loveable would be best, like as you say, an owl, or like Sirius' dog or perhaps a cat etc. As an owl I guess the only hazard is that people might try and tie letters to your legs...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IllusionalLove In reply to Ellygator [2008-10-08 01:34:29 +0000 UTC]

I admit I would be tempted to be a beautifully exotic animal like a panther, but smaller is better. Wouldn't be likely to find a bunch of panthers to blend in with on the Hogwarts grounds, would it?
I think an owl is the best bet, but it would be hard to snoop in classrooms as an owl. You're still noticeable, seeing as owls belong in the Owlery and not in class rooms, unless you were a smaller owl, say, like Pigwigdeon (sp?). I suppose you could find an open window and eavesdrop, though.
Maybe a butterfly would be a more suitable choice. You would be much less likely to get squished than if you were a beetle, but people might want to put you in jars and keep you as a temporary pet, which could get sticky....
