(2009) 9"x12" pencil, ink, watercolor, gold leaf, photographed and framed in Photoshop.For Capricorn I went with traditional earth colors: soft ochers, browns and grays. Love the overall calm and mellow effect and I like the whimsical expression of the little goat...

Never thought of it that way. It was the fact that they dilate vertically, rather than side to side like the rest of the animals with slit type pupils.

I only noticed, because I had a posse of squid stare me down during snorkeling one time. They were way cool, made a semicircle around me and color-signaled to each other. I remember thinking "Whoa, goat eyes... so weird!"
