(2009) 9"x12" pencil, ink, watercolor, gold leafI guess I am missing not working on a series, so for this spring I'm planning to do a sequence of all the zodiac signs. I'll use them to experiment both with mixed media and color and to play with some ideas of combining manuscript art and various type-faces with Art Nouveau elements.
Who knows, if I stick with it, maybe I can finally produce my first calendar...

Very elegant! Cute goat, too, and I love the colors. A note, though...the background is *very* distracting...if you could tone that down, perhaps use a smaller, less contrasted pattern? That awesome design you have that looks like fancy grill work on a gate is kind of lost against it. I look forward to seeing more! Is Aries yours?

Thank you! The writing came on stronger than I had originally thought. I am experimenting with less contrast for Taurus. And no, I just picked Aries, because it's the first of the cycle. I am a Leo myself.

Danke Dir! Ich habe mir Aries Eigenschaften zusammengesucht, wie "direkt", "energisch", "unternehmungslustig" etc., ins Lateinische uebersetzt und dann mehrmals abgeschrieben. Jedes Zeichen wird seine eigene "Beschriftung" bekommen.

Elli, this is incredible! It's your best work by far that I've seen. I especially enjoy the text being placed behind the grill work (for lack of a better term). it gives an immense impression of depth. bravo! I do hope you do something equally awesome for my fellow Capricorns

Thanks so much. I first had the gold leaf pattern just flat on the text, but then decided to shade it for a nice 3D feel. It looks pretty cool in the original, like you could lift the metallic parts off the page...
