It's potassium sulfide, a yellowish looking material that you can buy in small rock-like chunks. If you dissolve it in warm water and dip silver or other copper alloy pieces in it, it forms first a gorgeous rainbow of colors on them and then turns into a soft grey patina that you can polish up to antique a piece and give it more definition.
It smells a bit sulfurous and is toxic when accidentally ingested, but not as toxic as silver-black (muriatic acid) that will tarnish silver a deep charcoal black and can also burn your skin and lungs if you're not careful.
