Description (2014), 1.5 inches high, 2.5 inches diameter, bead embroidery on ultra-suede, stretched over a brass armature. Size 15 seed beads (turquoise, silver-lined green, transparent grey-lined, silver-lined dark teal), size 6 seed beads (silverlined matte transparent teal), blue grey pearls, pearl cab, iridescent blue lead beads, fireline.

I made this bracelet as a thank-you for one of my wonderful customers from Beads on the Vine in Grapevine, who gifted me an amazing bead-stash that she had got together, but was not planning on using herself. She picked out the cab, the leaf beads, the pearls and the size 6s as her favorites, and since they had such diverse shapes I went the route of embroidery to be able to combine them all.

I really hope she likes a summery theme that reminds me of vines and leaves as wall as an underwater scene with pearls floating among strands of kelp.

Love the way you used those Czech glass leaf beads.

Thank you! I'd wanted to do an embroidered cuff for a while. So this was a good opportunity to try.

Elly, this is so lovely!Β  It's delightfully different from your "normal" bracelets owing to the 3-D elements and larger beads, but it's still very "you" in terms of color, quality, and the design work.Β  What a wonderful way to cater to both the person you're thanking and your own style!Β  The color of this piece is an absolute delight, and the cuff/bangle design is unusual for you and gives both a literal and visual weight to a very light piece.Β

Thank you! I had the brass armatures for a while with the idea of trying my hands at a cuff embroidery piece. So it was really cool that this project finally gave me the push to try it.

I have a little porcelain octopus that I wanted to turn into an ocean-themed cuff, and maybe since the trial run went well, I may give it a try. I am kind of partial to the colors the customer selected, so working this little piece was a joy.

Thanks so much! Most of my bracelets go for $90, unless it's something super-elaborate or with really expensive materials. If you're interested in a specific piece or custom order, please just note me and we can work something out.

Wow! That would be really awesome! I could see your amazing work as the center piece of a bead embroidery. I would be very happy to either pay you for one of your beautiful creations, or we can work out a trade. Something you'd like me to make for you and a face from you to put into one of my pieces. I'd love that.

Thanks so much! It was a lovely challenge being given a "mixed bag" of beads and having to come up with a concept that pulled it all together. Reminded me of MasterChef, where they give people 3-4 funky ingredients and then you have to make it sing...

I wish you would live nearer so you could teach me a bit I am so bad in following tutorials but learning with a friend one on one thats plain awesome. Like with my photography I always misused my DSLR as point and shoot, I made two photocourses (big groups) and didn't get the hang of it. One day with TVD-Photography in the Zoo and I am on manual ever since it was so easy all the sudden.Β

I hear you - seeing and being shown in person is always the best. I used to do quite a bit of bead classes in Dallas when we still had a Beadworks store, which now is unfortunately closed, and I really enjoyed that. Still, if you are ever hunting around for tips or help, let me know. I know it'd have to be remote, but still always happy to help.

thanks so much for the offer living rural there are no such things as the american beading fairs Β and no beading courses beyond stringing
I don't get the hang of increasing and decreasing peyote or when you see a pattern with flowers where the flowers come out of the basic straight form not to talk of more complicated forms like peyote butterflies for brooches when I try to decrease or increase I mess it up

Yeah, that's kind of complicated to explain when you can't show it. I tried to and posted some instructions in my Scraps. You're welcome to check it out, maybe it makes some sort of sense...
