History
Niobe is from a very rustic village slightly hidden in the deep jungles of the Southeast where she hails from a deep-rooted bloodline of shamans--the Okoro tribe. The Okoro tribe was renown for their reception to the spirit world and promising fortunes and were sought by people from all over the world.
She was raised with a gentle hand by her mother, Navar, the tribe's head. She got her love of helping others by watching her mother handle her people with unconditional love and understanding as she did Niobe. Since Navar was always busy with her own duties, Niobe was trained extensively by her mother's sister, Zaara, who specialized in making medicines. She was a bit harder on Niobe than her mother but her strict methods molded Niobe into a fine herbalist. Zaara taught her the basics of herbs--the difference in taste, smell, and texture and how they worked in relation to one another to create the type of mixture for different purposes. As the years progressed, she became exceptionally skilled in creating remedies and could tell the ingredients by the smell alone. When Niobe became older, she became more in tune with the spirit world as she began to have to visions of ancestors and was on her way to becoming a high-end shaman. However, she very antsy and curious about life outside her clan for she has never seen anything past the village walls. She would climb the trees to see beyond her her home only to be met by the same scenery of jungle and is usual inhabitants. Niobe would often ask her mother about her travels outside the village which her mother would tell her without hesitation. Her mom would go into great detail of how the world was with it's urban technology and how it was an extraordinary experience.
One night, she had a dream of one of her ancestors, a great black jaguar with onyx black eyes that pierced her soul and it snarled and growled at her. She remembers not feeling fear but being filled with great anticipation of what her ancestor would show her of the future. The ancestor showed her a forked road with two of her at each end . To the left was her as a older woman with lifeless eyes and a hunched back, dressed in dulled colored attire of which the tribe head would wear, surrounded by crows perched in trees and over to the right was her as a older woman smiling, in vibrant colored clothing fit for the head of the tribe but surrounded by an array of unfamiliar faces, rays of light and hearty laughter. The black jaguar turned to her awaiting her decision and when she chose the smiling self, the dream faded. She arose from her slumber and ran to her mother to tell her of her vision and how she must leave. Her mother gave her a sadden smile but nods for she knew it was destined for her daughter's happiness. The morning after that night, she gathered all her necessities and the little money she had and bid farewell to her tribe, promising her return when the time came.
She traveled a harsh and mighty journey to until she came across a faint smell of smoke. She followed it all the way to the Eclair Express. This was Niobe's first time setting her eyes upon a real train. She had heard stories about it from her mother in her travels but she never thought she'll ever come across one. She cautiously approaches the station trying to get a closer look at the massive engine until she suddenly jumps at the sound of crinkling under her foot. She picks up the intricately decorated paper, dusts it off and began to read its contents. From what she could read, this "town" sounded beautiful and a place of new possibilities and sights. She happily sighed as she could feel this was the direction she needed to go. She found out where to pay her fee and boarded the train, vigorously looking around in awe. She had high hopes for this new journey that awaited.
