Description Kira, a young white Great Japanese Dog

On one forum the owner of this dog wanted someone to draw her dog. I thought to try because the reference photo was very nice. This is the result. I'm not completely pleased with it but Kira's owner liked it (she said "I think it looks as much like Kira as a drawing can!!") and wants this drawing for herself.

awsome drawing of an akita. I love them sooo much, i have one but she's black and white, they are really beautiful and the pic does an excellent job of showing their beauty. Great job.

Bloodyhell.... You know well how to make things realistic - even just with pencil and without computers. Sä olet perkelen hyvä sano mitä haluat, mutta sä olet piirostamisen enkeli!

Great dicreet shading, good work on details. I just find the contours too strong.

Beautifull drawing.
Love the "lightness" of it, meaning: you've achieved much without too much use of the pencil. Not to 'coloured' with all shades of grey, just plain beautifull...

I had actually a big worry with this that I'd make it too grey with all the shading. It's a white dog anyway and I'm glad I could keep it looking like white - at least I think it did not become too grey.

it's nice. have you studied drawing anywhere? or is it just natural talent of yours

I have never studied drawing anywhere. Years ago at school the teachers never even liked my work too much. Or maybe they liked some of my works but not my technique etc. So, I could say I've learned by myself all I can do and maybe it's best for me that I've never had a chance to study drawing anywhere because I doubt I had ever listened to anyone's advice too much anyway.

same here
never studied drawing and i don't know if i'd listen anyone else very much. i can't stand critisism very much

I can stand polite critisism, I guess. And I know it's not always nice to listen to critical words on some drawing you've put all your effort. Hah, beware - I can be very critical too but then I just try to say to people what they could do better. It's hard anyway to correct anything on another person's work as I know only my way to draw after all... and I never mean to "teach" anyone to draw like I do myself because my way definitely is not the only right way to draw.
