Gift for my very dear friend (Hawanja, AKA Mark Rivers), whose done a lot for me as of late, and without whom I'd be in terrible shape computer wise.

This is my rendition of his giant monster alter ego, also named Hawanja, that was previously featured in Mark's original illustration from 2009, as seen here:

Although Hawanja the Giant Monster is very much a comical creation, I still wanted to make the character look epically ominous, and placed him within a volcanic setting, teeming with flowing rivers with hot, liquid MAG-MA!

That's all I really have to say on my illustration, but the following profile was written by Mark River's himself, and is both different from the 2009 original, and thus NOT my doing...so don't blame me for the ensuing weirdness!

Hawanja is a ninja who was trained by a disgraced ninja master. With his friends Big Ed and the Rastafarian, they patrol the streets of Funk City, fighting crime and evil in all its varied forms.

Years ago, the trio broke into the headquarters of the Necrosoft (tm) Corp, a front group for a terrorist organization hell bent on world conquest, hidden behind the veneer of a publisher of buggy operating systems and extremely faulty video game consoles, like the Gammatron 19000:

In the ensuing battle, Hawanja was blasted by the Molecular Particle Trans-Dimensional Warpifier, and transformed into a giant, orange, ogre-like monster. He went on a rampage, smashing cars and causing millions of dollars of property damage before he was subdued and the transformation eventually wore off.

Unbeknownst to our heroes, the dimension from which the Molecular Particle Trans-Dimensional Warpifier drew its energy from what was a pocket jail dimension, created by the Dragon Lords of ancient Japan, used to banish those devils and demons deemed too dangerous to roam free.

Hawanja's transformation brought on by the machine had unknowingly released Kamuhito, the Oni-King. Centuries ago, Kamuhito lead the forces of darkness against the Dragon Lords for dominion of the Earth, until he was beaten back and sealed in the dark reality. Now the shortsighted actions of one man has endangered all of creation!
