Description
Henodus chelyops is an extinct placodont reptile of the Late Triassic (237-227 millions of years ago). Like turtles, it had a shell as ARMOR, formed from a plastron on the underside and a carapace on top extended well beyond the limbs, and was made up of individual plates of bony scutes covered by plates of horn, forming a mosaic pattern. The armor was fused to its spine, and its limbs were located outside the ribcage, unlike the real turtles. The weak limbs of Henodus suggest it spent little, if any time on land. Henodus was around 3.3 ft in length and their fossils turned into the only placodont thus far found in non-marine deposits of Tübingen, Germany, suggesting it may have lived in brackish or freshwater lagoons. Drawing made with fine liner pens and colored pencils on 14x9,5 cms bond paper.

Special thanks to my sister Cynthia for the drawing supplies.
