Description For all those people sick of having Bible verses quoted at them about their own unrighteousness - and for all those Christians who are sick of their Good Book being used to browbeat others - here's a little something to fight back.

The verse is: "Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way."

But, the whole context of that verse is about the Jewish ordinances (clean foods, sabbath day, Jewish festivals, etc)...meaning we shouldn't judge others if they choose to observe or not observe the Jewish ordinances...

1 Corinthians 2:15
"But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man."

Christians have a weird thing about trying to limit very expansive messages about tolerance to "no, that refers to absolutely nothing except a specific set of laws that I don't want to follow anyway."

A text without a context is a pretext.
And I've shown the context.

There are actually plenty of Bible verses that preach tolerance - they just tend to get ignored by people who are looking for an excuse to be intolerant. And unfortunately, there are a lot of those

THANK YOU. I'm tired of people trying to quote the bible to me and telling me how bad I am. Then I try to tell them that Jesus doesn't want them to judge and they get mad at me...O_o

Take it or leave it, I just wanted to share this.

According to the Bible, since the devil tempted mankind into sin, so that he could hurt God we started sinning. God does teach us to hate what is evil. But in His goodness, He recognizes that its not totally our fault for our sins. So while it takes looking in two spots to make this, Biblically it IS said "Love the sinner, hate the sin".
Because while sin is evil, humans are God's children.
I still struggle with sin, and many people might say I'm "holy" or "pure". The way I look at others who are sinning is, how can I judge them for their sins, when I too sin? How can I be angry at a homosexual when I shrink from expressing my belief in God so often?

So in short, while I don't agree with Unitarian Universalist beliefs, I still view you as a child of God, and for that, I am happy you're alive and well.
