This took a while...
To build up my portfolio I took "Defying Gravity" from the musical Wicked and drew up a storyboard for it. I hope you all like it.
Because Deviantart doesn't let me upload non-flash movies and their copyright policy, I'm hosting the video on Youtube. (They have something worked out with the copyright holders where they can host this music.)

Mhm. Sorry. What I meant to say is that this is beautiful, the animation perfectly fits, the character designs are spot-on, and the dramatic timing is excellent. I would love to see a completed version if possible, because it truly is excellent.
Also, I really want Wicked to be adapted into an animated movie already. Disney, get on that!

This was absolutely FANTASTIC. I LOVE the take you took on the scene as opposed to the musical (because the music obviously doesn't have a ton of dialogue that's there in the show), and there were two specific bits that gave me the chills this song is supposed to give you (And I've been listening to this song for years, now): the first one was with Glinda and Elphaba at "Just you and I defying Gravity!" The idea of Glinda standing on that ledge is just PERFECT. The second bit was "So if you care to find me~" through "Tell them how I am defying gravity!" I think maybe she could've been a bit more fierce there, but other than that, it was fine. My only other problem I have with this is the "Losing love I guess I've lost part," but that's only because of how I interpret those lyrics. I see it as more of Elphaba losing the love of Oz and Oz's people, because it would cost her her integrity. So, in my mind, it feels like the meaning's a bit lost, but the storyboard involving Fiyero and the statue is still great! Loved watching every second of this!!!

Stunning. Absolutely stunning. I learnt so much from this video about angles and timing and that full spectrum twirling scene was brilliant. There are so many things I never took into consideration before!!
I've always wanted to do something like this (but less extravagent, more simple) and this is such an inspiration. I hope you have other works like this in your gallery and I will definetely go looking for them!
Such a powerful song with such powerful storyboarding made me entertained throughout the whole thing. All these little points like Glinda stepping over the carpet and the head turns and then the beautiful ending with the arrows!! Magnificent.

Wow. Just, wow. This. Is. Amazing. You should really see if you can animate a full movie-like version of this in flash, cause that would be so awesomely-epic that it would be absolutely ridiculous. I've always adored the Wicked soundtrack, but seeing your fabulous effort to bring it to visual life is astounding. The concepts and layouts are great. To come up with those angles, settings, and expressions, all along with the timing is a practice-earned skill I hope to acquire when I go into this field.
