Damn, I have no problem with erotic nudes, or nude photography, or sexuality in general, but this camwhore shit isn't 'art' and it bugs the hell out of me. Not to mention DA's guidelines are utterly baffling and hypocritical, but thats another story altogether

There are other considerations like obvious attention to lighting or composition or context. But in general, just pointing your iphone camera at your junk while you're sitting on the toilet and then posting it on DA for jollies, wouldn't count as a masterwork...

Now, I DID see some vagina...and maybe the top half of the thighs shown on Deviantart...that looked pretty artistic. There were -other- things in the foreground and background that could've been counted as symbols. Or maybe it was surrealism for surrealism's sake. I don't know...but it was the FIRST and ONLY artistic seeming work with a vagina in it that I've seen that wasn't meant to be viewed as reference or porn. Most others not only include the lady parts, but the rest of the female body as well. And to be counted as 'artistic', usually those works have a specific target in mind. An audience who isn't looking for nudity to get off on it.
Otherwise, you have pornographic nudity who's target is obviously not that which is after anatomy lessons or something to reference.
That's not to say Playboy's not a bad idea...if you're trying to draw the female figure. Sure the boobs are normally horrendously huge, but some times you just gotta make due with what you have. And in some cases....it's porn.

I know I've commented once on this before, but now I'm really riled. I keep finding art with topless girls that don't have a mature tag on it, and it seems every time I go to report it, I get a note back saying it was marked "invalid" and no action was taken. I don't know who to go to about this, and I certainly can't make a statement like this by myself. care to join me in finding others to make a stink to DA?

Personally, after searching for pictures of "kissing" and getting a big ol' pile of close-up, shaved and goose-bumpy dick and vag on my screen, I very much love this stamp and its happy little message. Yeah I don't know... I don't like seeming judgmental and whatever, but you have to draw a line somewhere. There's being tastefully erotic or artistically nude, and then there's stuff that has no purpose but as wank material (for either the subject or the viewer, I guess) and I don't think that's the purpose of this website. There are PLENTY of other sites where you can post stuff that isn't allowed here, and it will be welcomed with open arms. Why not wank there? I'm not saying it should be illegal or that they're horrible human beings, just that it DOESNT BELONG ON THIS PARTICULAR SITE.
My main issue is, if they're going to allow stuff like this, at least... have some standard for discriminating, or let people selectively block it or something. I've seen so many of these stamps on dA that I want to make one saying: "A crotch-shot is the only TRUE art left in the world" with a picture of a censored vag or something.

Except I can't not look at it, because when it shows up on my front page I can't conveniently unsee it. You have to actually click on a crappy yaoi picture to see anything, really.
