Hermaphrodite. They have the abiliy to shift between a 'female' and 'male' form, their Carrier form and their Default form.
They are okay with whatever you call them; he/him, she/her, they/them and even it pronouns, they couldn’t care less.

Species
Somnus Exterreri - More commonly known as a Nightmare.

Residence
The Dream Realm, a side dimension where human souls go to during their sleep and where Myril kill them in their dreams.

Method of killing
They enter people’s dreams, and once in them, asks the victim what they fear most. If they dare to answer, Myril uses their fear to end them in the dream and in reality as well as a result, while feeding of the fright the victim feels before they die. After they pass away, Myril consumes their 'flesh' in order to grow more powerful themself.
If they do not respond with anything, Myril will start experimenting, sending multiple threats towards the victim until they find something the human feels frightened or uncomfortable with. Then, they shall proceed to do the same as if the human confessed it to them right away.
They could work faster, but they have grown to have a nasty liking towards toying with their victim, plus the fear the human feels allows them to grow stronger and feed. Normal nightmares do this too, but Myril is the only one who terminates the souls of their victims afterwards.

Reason of killing
Myril is a nightmare, which means their attitude towards humans has always been negative before. They feed of human fear, which is why they attack the human with their biggest fears and phobias first. Why they terminate the soul is unknown, actually; but it’s said they consume the bodies (read: the souls) of whoever fell prey to them, making them one of the strongest nightmares around.

Personality

Myril is sadistic, egocentric and a backstabber, to sum it up. They are incredibly hostile towards their own kind, and aren’t afraid to break the masks of their fellow nightmares in order to get what they want. They’re manipulative and controlling, and like to toy with their victims a lot when feeding. They’re cowardish however, and will attempt to chicken out of something when they sense it could potentially harm them. They see themselves as superior to everything else, and won’t hesitate to talk down to you or pretend not to listen to what you have to say. They can be seen as childish and unreasonable as well as a result.
They are easily annoyed, and fairly impatient. The only thing they are able to wait with is when scaring their victims, but other then that they have a tolerance limit of 0.
However, they certainly aren’t dumb, and they can see when something is possibly beneficial to them. They are not afraid to try and use that to their advantage. This is how they have grown to be good at pushing people's buttons, spreading lies, and setting people up for their own actions.

People’s fears
They love digging into someone’s mind to find out what they’re afraid of - they have a broad knowledge on what scares people by now.

Mirrors
They’re a window and, occasionally, a portal for them to see the real world; and they are obsessed with reality, to say the least.

Reality
They’ve grown to have a great obsession with humans and the real world; more importantly, how to infiltrate said world. They discovered mirrors seem to have some kind of connection to them, but they’re still investigating.

Fights
Myril loves action; they have those claws and teeth for a reason. Whether it’s against humans or other Nightmares, they will never back out of a fight. And due to their unusual strength compared to others, they usually win the battles they engage in.

Dislikes

Humans
They think they’re just a waste of space, with no use but to scare and feed of. They have grown from a mild disliking of humans - which suits their species - to full-on hatred, and they try to interact with humans as little as possible. Unless they can be useful for them, expect them to say nothing else but ’What is it you fear?’ in the end.

Any holy or spiritual items
They feel uncomfortable around them, and will try to avoid such items as much as they can. Not all holy items have any harmful effect on them, but nightmares generally tend to avoid anything that keeps potential danger held within.

Their fellow kind
They hate their kin, just like the others hate each other as well. It’s a Nightmare thing.
They won’t hesitate to engage in a battle with their fellow Nightmares, and due to their habit of feeding off flesh next to feeding off fear, they are stronger than the average Nightmare and often win said battles with ease. This has led to Myril having both outgrown the other Nightmares, and having gained a fearful reputation amongst their kind.

Strengths

Their acidic saliva
Their saliva can burn through steel. Never, never let them spit on you.

Their multiple rows of teeth
They have a powerful bite, though not as strong as their dream counterpart. They are still capable of biting a chunk off your arm though.
The teeth in their mouth are relatively loose, so if you tug yourself out of their bite, you’ll likely be covered in pointy teeth.Thanks to the slightly curved shape of the teeth, they do not only hook themselves into the flesh of their victim, but aditionally help saliva to flow past them and into the wounds.

Their claws
Their nails are sharp as razors and easily dig into flesh. They’re stronger than the average human nail, about as strong as human bones rather. However, they grow back incredibly slowly when they break off, leaving them disadvantaged.

Their inability to feel pain
They cannot feel pain, due to lacking our human nervous system. They can’t feel it when someone touches them either, and in reality, are actually highly vulnerable to diseases. At this point their rotting skin h become a brooding place for many different parasites, which can make it very dangerous for humans to touch them.

Dream Manipulation
They can manipulate the environment in dreams to suit their own needs and frighten the victim. However, their manipulation powers have no effect on the real world.

Shapeshifting/ Body morphing
Myril is capable of partially changing their appearance, to suit human fears. They can grow extra arms and legs, tentacles, extend their tongue to unnatural length, grow a fishtail, turn into a more animalistic version of themselves, turn into a doll-like verion of themselves, and change the colour of their skin. Additionally, they can manipulate their height in dreams, either becoming gigantic or incredibly small.
They are even capable of smoothening their skin out, to look more human!

Weaknesses

Their mask
Their mask is their main weakness. A scratch on it can paralyse a part of them them permanently, a crack can paralyse them completely, and if the mask breaks into two or more pieces, they will die on the spot. Their mask contains their soul, and they go great lengths to protect it. They’re able to take it off, but they refuse to do so at all times.

Spiritual or holy items
Items such as holy water, spirit guns (Flame-Bloom ) or crucifixes make them immensely uncomfortable. While they don’t have any kind of link towards religion, it still repels them successfully. The objects are also capable of making them feel pain; they can do actual severe damage.

Their attitude and mindset/Trickery
Due to them believing they are superior and always trying to lie to their ‘partners’, they tend to easily be tricked themselves as well. This can be used, but they are distrusting of others due to their own behaviour. Trickery is a challenge, and it pisses them off if they find out they have been tricked.

Feeding
If they haven’t fed for a long time, they will start to grow weaker. This will have serious effects on both their physical and metal state of being, causing their body to rot even further and their mindset to become delusional. It's one of the major reasos why they try to keep themselves fed 24/7.

To summon them, all you need to do is drop a single droplet of blood onto a mirror surface and call their name. Time varies until they arrive - it can take days before they appear. Never summon them without a good reason, or else they’ll take your soul on the spot.

They strike deals with humans they deem beneficial - usually they will ask the human to find a way to release them into the real world, and as soon as they’re out, they will try to kill the person they made a deal with. However, there is a complication with this method - Myril will have to return to the Dream Realm the moment the ‘partner’ dies. They have been in reality for a few times, but each one was short-lived.

They can change their appearance to suit human gender standards. Usually they’ll switch to whatever unsettles the victim the most - and although masculine is their main form, it’s said that in feminine form their regular hostility peaks.

They are very attached to their clothes - their unusual attire is a big art of them, and they’d never give it up willingly.
