Description Yon-Rogg was Mar-Vell's commanding office within the Kree Scientific Scouting and Intelligence Battalion in this alternate Marvel Universe and his initial adversary leading to his becoming a defender of Earth.  Both Mar-Vell and Yon-Rogg joined the Kree military at the same time but unlike Mar-Vell who has earned distinction and his rank through various deems performed in service to the Kree Empire, Yon-Rogg has earned his way up the chain to his rank of Colonel above a more well regarded Captain through political scheming and connections.

Although Mar-Vell’s superior, Yon-Rogg was jealous of the military skills that his subordinate had and genuine respect he received from fellow Kree warriors and dignitaries.   When the ever ambitious Yon-Rogg realized that Mar-Vell had admiration and sympathy towards the Earth populace he had infiltrated for the Kree Empire, he decided he would use this to his advantage in an attempt to further elevate himself within the Kree military and Empire by proclaiming that the Earth is indeed a future threat to the Kree Empire and launching an attack upon the Earth in order to neutralize its potential threat.  Yon-Rogg’s actions lead to Mar-Vell’s donning of his Kree battle armor and using his military skills and knowledge of the Kree to help Earth’s military repel the much more advanced Kree attack forces, due also in part to Yon-Rogg’s lack of battlefield tactical knowledge compared to Mar-Vell’s.  Yon-Rogg would later be stripped of his military rank and privileges as his actions directed towards Earth had not being sanctioned by either the Kree Military Council or the Supreme Intelligence himself.

Some time later after Mar-Vell is given the title and position of the Hala Sun, Yon-Rogg returned to Earth for a final confrontation with Mar-Vell seeking to somehow disgrace and kill Mar-Vell for the lost of his rank and status within the Kree military. To this end he kidnapped Mar-Vell’s confidante in his identity as Walter Lawson, Air Force Major John Danvers and his young daughter, Carol, in order to lure Mar-Vell into a trap in which he planned to use the Kree device known as the Psyche Magnitron to allow him to overcome Mar-Vell’s heightened abilities.  His plan fails leading to his unexpected death and young Carol Danvers DNA being altered and gaining powers similar to Mar-Vell’s own that she would go on to utilize as the heroine that is today Ms. Marvel.
