Sister piece to Desperate Times

"Ny'......?"

Sabini felt her heart pound as she carefully stepped into the den, resisting the urge to anxiously claw at the stone below her paws. The dim dusk of the outside provided little light to show her path into the cave, even if it wasn't that deep. Her thoughts mulled angrily like a steadily frustrated cloud of bees in her head as she inched further inside, squinting into the darkness ahead. With no response, she wondered if she should just come back later-

"What the fuck are you doing here?"

Oh. So she was awake.

Taking in a deep breath, Sabini carefully tread deeper into the den, where her vision began to adjust, and she could begin to make out the shape of Nyota, curled in on herself , blue eyes still sharp as claws, even in the dark. The yellow lioness felt her throat become stuck as more of the other female became clear to her: the bruises, the leg that was twisted unnaturally, and the most obvious, the new gashes dug across her face, the fur around them stained from heavy blood loss.

"Nyota....I...I wanted to-"

"Wanted to what?!?!" the princess snapped, clearly in pain from twisting her expression. "Magically fix what that BITCH did??? Take back all the time I wasted on YOU??!! You know what that damn monkey said??" she snarled.

"Nyota, please-"

"He said I might, MIGHT fucking walk again!" something hurt caught ragged on her harsh tone as she began to wheeze from the effort. "But even if this stupid leg works, it'll never fucking work right.....How the hell am I supposed to depend on myself with a screwed up leg?.."

"Nyota....I'm so sorry..." Sabini tried to move closer, tried to maybe offer a comforting nuzzle. "It never should have happened..."

With an enraged growl, Nyota swiped hard at her, barely grazing her fur as she dodged back. "No it shouldn't have!!" her eyes now blazed with wild fury as she glared at Sabini with all her built up anger and betrayal. "I did NOTHING TO YOU!! And you didn't do anything to fucking stop that- ARGHHH- I hope the hyenas rip her open!"

"Ny' stop it, don't say that about-!"

"No, don't you DARE try and scold ME! You USED me, you cattle assed traitor!! I trusted you!! And you want to talk shit to the one lion who is keeping you from a one way trial to hell!!"

That caught Sabini off guard. That had been a curious notion, that no one had ever come to imprison her after the chaos died down. The last time she saw Scar, he'd given her a nasty look, but that was normal....so how...?

"I........Ny', why didn't you tell your father why we started arguing...?" she spoke carefully.

The injured lioness let out an unamused grunt. "Because I still have some fucking respect for my sister. Nala somehow found out, and she KNEW Dad would have torn your head off.... She begged me to keep my mouth shut. So here we are..."

"I......thank you Ny'...."

"Get the fuck out Sabini..."

"No....I can't, I mean-..." she started to stumble over her words. "That's not why I'm here....Nyota I want you to come with me..."

"You're still going through with that stupid plan of yours??? Take the same advice I gave you last time: do it, and you're vulture food. And why the hell would you ask me to come with???"

"Because I do care about you Nyota-"

"Shut up- don't you even TRY!-"

"But I do, Ny'!" Sabini thought she was going to cry, feeling the guilt from everything that happened burning a pit deep in her chest. "What I did was awful, I know but- you really were wonderful and I enjoyed my time with you- Nyota please, I love you-"

"NO, SHUT UP! NO YOU DON'T! FUCK YOU, FUCK YOUR LIES, AND FUCK YOUR BULLSHIT PLAN! GET OUT!" she screeched, standing shakily on her front paws, fur scruffed and puffed out as a threatening growl echoed in her throat.

"Nyota, please don't do this..."

"GET OUT!!"

Sabini finally turned on her paws to sprint out when she heard the sounds of curious hyenas pondering on bothering the princess so that Scar wouldnt kill them if anything bad happened. Tears streamed down her face as she scrambled down the side of Pride Rock, feeling something break in her heart that would never be healed.

Welp, sad times.

As said above, this is associated with the Mheetu/Kula piece I did a few days ago, in fact these events take place at the exact same time. Im not as happy with this drawing though, the background was a struggle and I feel like Sabini and Nyota could have been drawn better.

Speaking of these girls, they have....quite a history. I didn't want to give away everything blatantly, but I hope I gave enough hints that can be pieced together.
