What does a Graduated ND filter do, if I may ask?

Thanks mang. The filter corrects the contrast between the foreground rocks and the distant skies. I shot using the measurement of light from the foreground, and if I hadn't used the filter, the sky would turn out very bright and blown out, because it was much brighter than the foreground.
