Me and my girlfriend decided to start doing this roleplay where my main OC xai is a pervy naga xD and he captures shida and stuff. and then later they end up going out even though she hated him at first, so it's really sweet.recently she wanted to know what it felt like to be a naga so Xai gave her this berry that turned her into a naga temporarily.
So here we have 's character Shida Kinata as a sexy snake xD
i was gonna have her saying something like "x- xai... what have you DONE?" lol and have like a chibi xai in the background nose-bleeding.
i like how i coloured it and did the background anyway.
i also like how i designed her tail. she's the silver naga Shida ^-^ (xai's the blue naga)
I hope kage-chan likes it. i'm certainly happy with it.
the only thing i didn't like was the shine in her hair. the little white lines and stuff. hated that.

But no, it's not a texture or anything. You're referring to the shine, right?
Actually on closer inspection (editing the deviation to display in full-size so I could see it clearly haha)
it WAS a filter, I used a mosaic filter, put it on a layer mask, and brushed over with a soft brush where I wanted it to appear.
I used a lot of different variations of this throughout my art as I developed.

Aww, so it's acutely a fairly complex technique. I'm sorry that I spelt it wrong, you see I'm a writer so obviously my biggest problems are grammar and spelling... I wish that wasn't factually correct... but anyways I loved your lamia/naga pictures.

Oh no it would be SO much ore complex if I drew all of that by hand haha.
Even if I just drew one tessellating object and copy pasted it.
A mosaic filter is pretty easy to do. most filters aren't complicated really.

Where I actually took like a huge long photoshop tutorial that had like 10 different steps of different filters and layer effects and super complex stuff with alpha masks and shit... THAT was touch haha
not this simple scale effect.
Yeah a brush can be better but I need to find one that would really work. One that is designed to not only bend with the direction of the pen with little distortion, but potentially to bend the size towards the center, and the harder the pressure is applied.
But I don't know if I'll find one that's perfect. I was thinking the other day of experimenting with taking parts of coils in sections and getting a kind of scale texture set and then using a super long mesh transformation to try and bent it around the 3-dimensional shape of the tail.

Also writer with difficulties in spelling and grammer huh? xD that's a toughie. It would be like me having Dysgraphia.
Actually I have a friend who is an artist and a coder, and get this, has Dysgraphia (impairment affecting the ability to see shape and form), Dyscalcula (impairment affecting the ability to view numbers in the right order) and Dyslexia (impairment affecting the ability to view words correctly... And the only one my spellcheck recognised.)
I do not envy him.

i guess being a nut about mythical subspecies like us is kinda rare. i was always dissapointed with the lack of decent naga or centaur or mermaid etc art out there
this is the promary reason i became an artist - for all the stuff i like is not very popular; i always liked the leat popular anime, and no one i knew has ever been into magical creatures like me. so i decided i wanted to fill the gap myself
and i always hoped someone like you would come along and appreciate my work out of a love for this stuff ^-^

go to submit up the top and click on "Submit Art"
then you just put in a title, select the category, upload the picture, type in a descrption, put the keywords in, and then upload it.
for writing, you click on "add text" instead of a deviation and just paste in the text.
