actually its a footman's flail - a mace is a big metal head on a stout stick, used for breaking bones so priests could continue to claim not to have spilt human blood great pic though

Yeah, you're right I just couldn't fit an original mace on the board and show the hand's detail(which, oddly enough, is the main reason for the drawing )So I combined a few elements on the mace/flail in sacrifice of the hand

Well, hand studies I've been doing for awhile now, so they're coming along pretty easy ... the mace was the hardest part because I had to find a wy to fit it onto the page while combining the three mace-types(long chain mace and spiked-ball, short handled mace and ball, and a flial-type of mace weapon) together to form one brand new type of mace weapon! That was the most difficult part
