I actually am Candybot for Halloween every year, only I don't go around asking for candy - I'm the one giving it out (I think 30 is a little old to go trick-or-treating, anyway). Β I made a 4'x4'x5' folding wood frame box and nailed foil-covered insulation to it for walls, so it looks like metal sides without being too heavy. Β Then I stuck two big LED lights with red plastic film on the front for robot eyes, cut a hole and stuck an L-pipe through it for a mouth/candy dispensing slot, and put two of those front door peephole viewing thingies through the front so I could see out but kids couldn't see back in (it works great, just like binoculars; before I added them, kids kept looking inside and going 'There's a person in there!' Β Gee, ya think? 
I sit out on the driveway, and when kids walk up, I go "I AM CANDYBOT. Β WHAT ARE YOU?" Β I make funny comments on their costumes and then give them candy after that. Β The kids never expect to have the robot talk to them, and they find it amusing enough (except for the few really little ones who are scared of me for some reason), but the parents think it's HILARIOUS. Β Any lazy, cop-out teenagers who come up without a costume and still try to get candy are informed that "COSTUME IS REQUIRED FOR CANDY DISPENSING. Β IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A COSTUME, THEN YOU MUST... DANCE." Β I actually had about five people dance last year, and some of them were really good. Β I think this year, I'm gonna take my mp3 player and a portable speaker into the box with me, so I can lay down a beat for the non-costumed slackers to dance to.
