Haytham sighed as he slowly shuffled down the icy driveway to his mailbox. "Damn snow," he grumbled as the mailbox opened with a squeak.After quickly grabbing the mail, he shuffled as fast as he could back inside. He glanced down at the various envelopes in his hands. "Bill. Bill. Bloody retirement letter. Bill. And..." he trailed off when a picture of a smiling young family greeted him.
Haytham had never received a Christmas card in his life. He had warned his mother years before that he abhorred the things and that he didn't need them and that was the one request she had successfully carried out when she was alive.
Now, though, he couldn't help but let a small grin crack through his grumpy expression.
It had been six years since Connor and Ellie married, and Haytham couldn't remember a time he was happier when they had their daughter, Rebekah.
His granddaughter reminded him of Ziio in almost every way. Even her smile had a glimpse of the woman he loved in it.
Connor was easily holding his four year old daughter in one arm in the photo and his other arm was around his wife. Both parents were smiling at Rebekah.
Haytham held back a chuckle when the bottom of the card said, "Merry Christmas Grandpa!"
Grandpa.
That was one word Haytham never thought would apply to him.
Haytham sighed and moved to put the picture in his office.
He had a lot to do before Connor and his family came over for Christmas Eve.
And for the first time in years, he was looking forward to it.

My friend, and I had a conversation about how Haytham would fit in with Connor and Ellie's family in the Tomahawks and Briefcases world and this beautiful idea arose from that.
And yes, I would imagine that Ellie would force Connor to wear a sweater with a gingerbread man on it.

Good, good...especially since my grades are finished and turned in. Now I have a whole week to play...er...prep for the next semester, which starts on Jan. 6. =___=; I hate short breaks; a professor barely has time to finish up grades and recuperate, let alone prep for the next semester...
I still need to do all the things I was putting off until now: put some items up for sale on craigslist/ebay, clean out the storage (ugh. I think that's the one thing I won't get to), do my laundry, clean my office (it's got papers and books stacked all wonky), AND prep for a New Year's party my mom thinks I should have...=_= I appreciate that she wants to help me be social...I honestly think I'd be very reclusive if she didn't...but she sorta sprang it on me in front of my newest best friend (yes I have many bffs)
And for some weird reason, I'm getting llamas from random people who have never faved my work or talked to me ever before...:/ weird...

Well, I'm on break now too. I switched my major this year so that's been an interesting experience. This semester was pretty busy due to that and my sorority stuff. And I think you would be proud of my writing ability now! I've become sort of a somebody on a couple other websites besides this one and I just have to say thanks to you! You gave me a push in the right direction and my beta for my new stories has been an amazing help.
And I have been getting random llamas too o.O

Ugh. I know how that is. Only I merely switched my minor, not my major. By the time I realized there might not be work in my field, I'd already invested waaaay too many hours in my chosen major; in addition, I really didn't have another subject that I liked better than English. Even switching minors was a pain b/c I had to get all the 100-level stuff done, which wasn't difficult but took up a lot of time and since I had to switch to the new catalog to do it, I also had to take that catalog's GE courses (switching is why it took me 6 years to graduate with my BA instead of 4)...a bit of a somebody, huh? Fantastic! Which sites? I'd like to see what your fans have to say about your writing (if you don't mind 
It's so weird! Who are these people? At first I thought it was just newbies going crazy with the website's free features, but some of these llama-givers have been here for 3+ years.
Just so you know, I'm going to start using the covers that you made for me & I'll let you know what I would like for the other covers...if you're still up for it.

I've already done that for FFN, but I used gavorche-san's for SAR b/c I think it encompassed the story more. I used your Beachy Keen for that fic, nairchan's art for My Favorite Christmas Tradition and...I've got nothing for the others...hmmm.
I shall start a list of ideas as soon as I get back from the store (my mom is sick and needs yogurt to settle her stomach). Daw, that was cute, even though I'm not a big fan of Taylor it was cute. Actually, yogurt is not a good thing to help settle an icky stomach. The lactose from the yogurt would only upset it more.
