170g A4 (cheap schoolpaper quality)

When I am choosing what to draw next. I think of three things! what can I learn from this and Does it fit in with My style. And the most important thing Will it be Funny to do. If you are going to spend so many hours on it. It must be Worth it.
And I felt that this picture was perfect.
This time I was going to draw what i felt was the coolest parts first! And that of course is the monster Michael Myers. And The thing this drawing would teach me. Was How to paint someone behind glas.
But When I made the grid and the outlines I discovered that I had a problem.
jamie lee Curtis features are really difficult.

step 1
The grid! You can see that I allready was in trouble with her eyes. If I couldnt get them right, the entire drawing would suffer. So change of plans. Jamie would be first.

When I work with graphite I always start by shading the entire square a light grey. Then I add all the dark shadows very carefully. And in the end I erase all the details that should be white.
If I erase first and draw shadows later. The paper Will be torn and damaged and shadows wont be even. But this can work to your advantege if you are making an elephant or a crocodile.

step 2
Jamie lee Curtis face stole a lot of time. But I had to make it or Else I could throw the drawing away. And if I had Gone with My original plan. I would have drawn the cool monster. And if I couldnt fix jamies face. All the time and effort would be lost.

Step 3
Finishing jamie. I also wanted to show you that I always start with the eyes on a face first. Because they are the most important thing to get right. And after Jamie I knew Michael was going to be pretty straight forward.

step 4
Michaels face was really Funny to draw. And he had a little perfect frame.

step 5
making background.

step 6
finishing touches. Fix the hairs. Details on the outlines. That make the characters and the background fit together.

The tools:

2B Mechanical pencil for grids and outlines
6B-9B Cretacolor Monolith Graphite Pencils
dark graphite stick
A package of erasers sharpened in all different shapes
and eraser pen
Blender and cotton sticks.

Took 2 days of work. Around 12+ hours to complete.

I hope you like it!
