WIP of the portrait of Franklin Mott ([link] ), 20.5*29cm, graphite pencils, approximately 15h.The expression of Franklin's face is excellent, that's why I chose this photo. I "only" needed 15h, there's not really a lot of details and the hair is almost totally black.

what kind of blending stump do you use? been struggling to get one that is reliable... that or i'm unsure really how to use it haha

I don't know, there are blending stumps, that's all, I take the first ones I see in a shop x)

What do you use to blend with? And what do you use for the highlighted areas such as the forehead,
cheeks, and nose? Really super work.

I use blending stumps and my fingers to blend, and a kneaded eraser for highlighted areas

Hey ! I use bristol paper (for the last one and for next ones) or, for the old ones, a paper like bristol paper but for printer

It's almost the same paper, but the other (not the bristol) uses to spot easily and it spoils everything ><

Ah, i'm going to buy Bristol smooth and Bristol Vellum. So i'll see the difference(i think) But i can't buy it at my local art store.., do you know an art website where you cant buy it.. (cheap)

You start the shading with the eyes? How come you don't remove it all by accident with your hand afterwards? I guess you are more skilful than I am

Yes I do and yes I remove it while I'm drawing, so at the end of the portrait, I draw again on dark spaces

I agree, his expression is excellent. the first thing that atracts me to draw a portrait or to like one is how expressive the face is, the emotion that shows or.... i dunno sometimes you see a face & think: Oh ! i must draw this one !
