Sim, o guizo embaixo dela eh em 3D, percebi que seria mais facil fazer a objeto em 3D do que acertar a curvatura da textura manualmente... aliais, tento usar 3D toda vez que for possivel pq facilita a criacao dos backgrounds e ajuda a manter certa consistencia no webcomic.

Bem, restando cerca de 100 p'aginas para a estoria terminar (aleluia, ja fazem 3 anos que desenho esta coisa XD), nao deve levar muito tempo. A estoria inteira em si so leva uns 4 ou 5 dias, mas e contado de modo coninuo (a la 24 XD).

Wow...probably the sexiest work yet...even better looking than the girls seen in some MMOs. You draw really great feet, and her outfit is original and cool, but I think it's that lovely look in her eyes (you draw beautiful faces, too) that really gets to me.

Very nice.

On the negative side, I could say it's a shame some polygons can be seen on the ball she stands on, and the texture misses a little higher resolution, too.
On the plus side, well... The drawing itself is nice with good shadowing and light coherence, and materials are good, too. She has a nice expression and I like how you drew her ears / her clothes (I especially like the ears). The pose too is nice and well rendered. This is for me far more important than the 3D part...

So, nice work

Your right about the bell, I originaly had planed to use the 3D model only to trace the lines and repaint the it myself. I got impatient and didn't give it the attention it deserved T_T

You're welcome.

You could also try and model/render the ball using NURBS to give it a more polished look, and still not have to trace all lines, which can be a real pain to do (and I know what I'm talking about since I trace everything before painting/shadowing).
Just a hasty advice, do as you feel like and keep up the good work ^^

I just looked at my model yesterday (to rerender it with a better texture), but someting must have happened to the data because the UAV mapping got messed up.
For some reason the vertices went crazy on me and there seems to be no way to fix it. Looks like I might have to just redo the whole thing T_T

Don't hae much of a choice , I'll need to use the model again in the future. I have another drawing that's almost finnised that uses the same bell. The basic shape is simple, but the proportions for the rest is what's tough.

The bell/ball is a big part of the story, and that is why it's so important that I have a good reference. I'm lucky that I saved the model at various stages during development, quite a few of them had been corrupted and even attempts to repair the damage just seemed to mess up the model even more. I've been able to recover most of it, from early stages, but I need to remap the textures again (and that can be a pain with a round object like this T_T)

I know your pain, I hate UVW maps too, I usually end up "cheating" with planar mappings or the like, because I'm a lazy guy *^_^, but I know sometimes there's need to do a complete unwrap/mapping... and that sucks.

The object should be simple enough to just re-render, but being the lazy ass I was I tried to just fix it up and redo the UVW's. It didn't quite work out, the problem with 3DSM (for inexperienced people like me) is that sometimes you don’t see grave mistakes until you've invested 2 hours worth of work. Did an entire unwrapping yesterday only to find out the mapping would not work properly because I tried to optimize the unwrapped model T_T). I think it might be best just to redo the whole thing...

Oh, okay... Well, I used 3DS for a time now I try and learn Maya, the UI is shitty but it's very powerful, espectially to design nurbs or proxy-meshes. Anyway, I won't suggest anything to you except doing as you feel.
Sometimes it is indeed faster to redo it from scratch, when the files are mangled and/or you didn't keep each step.

That's what happens when it gets corupted, also sometimes Max dislikes undo functions, once I was more than happy to have a backup when I deleted an optimize modifier, and the mesh was destroyed. Anyway, Max's built-in optimize function (and booleans, too) is not-that-good.

On an unrelated topic, I understand the title (in your signature) as "the legend of nekomimi(s?)", but I can't translate the last part, I mean, a neko is a cat, but i don't grasp the meaning of 'nekomimi', is it a word you created or does it have a particular meaning ?

on a yet unrelated side-note (lol) if 'im annoying always replying you can just tell me to shut my trap *^_^

Probably best to just redo the whole thing. I am kinda pissed off at it right now though, because I've spent 2 nights trying to recover the work and no success, so now I'm just going to start over and hope for the best.

"Nekomimi" literally translates as "cat ear", but is the Japanese equivalent for cat-girl (or cat-person). Thus, the title for the site is "legend of the cat ear". Most of the content is catgirl related anyway (in the form of various webcomics)

I hope for the best for you, too, because 3D looks simple to do when you look at it but is really long when you actually do it. I've done low-polygon models for two years, and know how hard it can be. Good luck with that !
