Description Made for the critter creation contest over at

I had most of this drawn out the day the contest was posted. The challenge got my creative juices going right away. I felt bad about entering though, small contests are the ones where the little guy has a chance of wining, and I feel bad taking that away from someone. So I have sat on this until the last minute, and I may be to late to enter anyway... even though this was practically done a month ago.

I didn't have enough space on the ref sheet to fit all the details in, so the list of characteristics from the contest will fill in the rest of the information.

Thanks. I wanted something that was a combo of beak and teeth so that they had both gripping and slicing power in their beaks. That way if they didn't manage to bring down prey, they at least get a nice chunk of them as a snack.

I appreciate your comment and your praise. I'm not trying to sound snarky, but I will be blunt...

This has absolutely nothing to do with Avatar. In the artist comments you can see that the creature was required to have 6 legs among other traits. Not everything with 6 legs is related to Avatar, things with 6 legs have been drawn for years previous to that movie. In the future it may be a good idea to read the description before comparing a creature to something in Avatar, it has become a sore spot for many creature artists, because comparing things to something like Avatar devalues their creativity.
