These days, having started a kinda artistic academy - yeah, I'm doing it! - I've been kinda busy with some mandatory stuff. Bones. So, I preferred to focus on them before the next drawing.
I still drew, anyway, fast sketches and doodles alike. When I doodle, I don't care about preliminary stick figures and stuff. I just start and hope for the best. And sometimes I'm happy with the results!
GENESYS OF A DOODLE
Some days ago, I've started drawing a soviet WWII helmet. Off course, I had to add a strict, stern, proud, soviet face*. Possibly with something woolen around it, because you know, EASTERN FRONT, VERY COLD**. I drew the bedroll (on the wrong shoulder) and went for the other shoulder, which came out insanely large - even for a soldier wearing a padded telogreika jacket. Wow, it looked like one of those heroes of the USSR on the propaganda poster!
So I added the iconical PPSH 41 SMG, which I'm still learning to draw. I was so happy with the random result that I used a reference to help me with the details of the gun. I then added some loose details to the gloves and to the woolen headgear. After 20 minutes since I first drew the helmet, most of them spent on the gun, the doodle was concluded.
I was so happy with it that I decided to publish it in all of his glorious doodling rawness, in memory of the many doodles now only known to god.

In questi giorni, avendo iniziato una sorta di accademia artistica - alla fine, si! - sono stato piuttosto impegnato con alcuni lavori obbligatori, sui quali ho preferito concentrarmi.
Ho comunque continuato a fare disegnetti e scarabocchi vari sui miei taccuini, tanto per passare il tempo. Non ho mai grandi ambizioni in questi casi, generalmente non faccio studi preliminari e quello che viene, viene. A volte rimango inaspettatamente contento dei risultati.
GENESI DEL DISEGNETTO
Qualche giorno fa ho iniziato a disegnare un elmetto sovietico. Ovviamente ci voleva una faccia lì sotto, un classica, severa, dura, fiera faccia sovietica*. Magari intorno alla faccia un passamontagna o qualcosa dall'aria calda. Perchè IN GRANDE MADRE RUSSIA MOLTO FREDDO*. Ho disegnato il sacco a pelo (sulla spalla sbagliata) e poi la spalla libera, che mi è venuta larghissima - anche per uno con indosso una giacca telogreika imbottita. Grosso così sembra uno di quegli eroi dell'Unione Sovietica disegnati sui vecchi manifesti!
A quel punto ho aggiunto il PPSH 41, il classico mitra sovietico della Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Siccome mi è venuto sorprendentemente bene - ho ancora diversi problemi a disegnarlo, mi sono aiutato con delle foto per migliorare alcuni dettagli e lì è dove ho perso la maggior parte del tempo. Dopo aver aggiunto vaghissime ombreggiature, 20 minuti da quando ho iniziato a disegnare l'elmetto, il disegnetto era finito.
Mi è piaciuto talmente tanto che ho deciso di pubblicarlo senza perfezionamenti, in tutta la sua gloriosa imperfezione da scarabocchio.
Dedicato a tutti gli scarabocchi perduti o dimenticati.

is it true that padded jackets can defend a person from a 9mm bullet? i have heared that iin 1920s gangsters used padding.

Maybe a ricochet shot from a very long distance, I can't say for sure, but I don't think telogreikas were bullet proof. As somebody else in this comment have pointed out, the rolled overcoat was generally worn on the left shoulder, to help to sustain bayonet attacks, so I'm inclined to think that stopping or slowing down bullets with padded only was out of question!

but. it's not bedroll. it's overcoat (chinelle) folded in a roll

also on that video explain, why that roll weared on a left sholder. It could help in a bayonet attack.
Also I have never seen red army soldiers covered head by any sort of woolen scarf.

Oh, I see. Finally I discovered what that roll-thing actually was. Thank very much, the video was very interesting! It's not always easy to find english-language information, sadly.
Indeed, I know it's the wrong shoulder (it's written in the description), but I drew this one in a rush, so many details are wrong - another example is the padded jacket which is a strange mixture between earlier and later models. The woolen scarf, well, let's say it's wasn't meant to be an official feature. Maybe my "Ivan" would have preferred an Ushanka under the helmet, but I was just like - let's add a woolen thing.

Liceo classico e Storia all'Università. A livello artistico sono autodidatta...fino a ora, almeno! Ora che mi sono iscritto al Comics (Accademia delle arti figurative e digitali) a Firenze spero di dare una bella accelerata sia dal punto di vista tecnico che da quello concettuale. O almeno, il piano è quello!

It is in fact an academy, held by professionals in various artistic fields - animation, graphic etc. -, and I've chosen to follow an illustration course, in order to improve faster conceptually and especially technically my skills. It's the first time I'm taking actual lessons in artistic field, I hope it will pay off, as difficult as it may be
