Description The 137th Annual Miyako Odori of the maiko and geiko of Gion Kobu.

"Kitano Tenmangu, often called 'Tenjin-san', is dedicated to the spirit of Sugawara no Michizane, who was known as a scholar and the minister of the Right during the Heian period (794-1192). He was born in the year of the Cow and was linked by fate with cows in many other ways, so there are a lot of cow effigies in Kitano Tenmangu. Those effigies' backs are shining because it's believed that rubbing them will bring good luck. Kitano Tenmangu is also famous for being one of the best places to enjoy plum blossoms."
