Ah, yes. Magnificient certainly is the proper word - what poise, what an aura she exudes!

Tomoe Gozen was my favorite at the Matsuri, she seemed so powerful and regal.Β

The photo certainly conveys that. I'm really happy I stumbled across your photos! I miss Japan, but they make me stop and just consider them, enjoy them, and in a way join you in your visit, or see into the window you open by your photos.
Tomoe Gozen is on another note one of my many favourites among characters in Japanese history/mythylogy. It is lovely to see her portrayed like this.

Would you feel comfortable submitting this image into the Battle Ready Womyn group? [link] Were a group dedicated to realistically armoured women warriors and respectful interpretations of them and feel this artwork fits group qualifications. Hope you chose to contribute! (This would be best submitted into the Photography folder).

I've read Tomoe Gozen's story, recounted in another book "Samurai Women" Stephen Turnbull, and it is an interesting story. I have Heike Monogatari, but its so long that I have yet to finish it. Anyway this is a really nice pic, the costumes, weapons, and armor looks very nice and authentic!

She is so beautiful.
When she sits that straight, I can somehow feel her strength and bravery.

She's very inspiring. She struck such an intense and powerful figure, I couldn't take my eyes off of her.

I wasn't sure or not, so thank you! She stole my breath away during the parade. I can't imagine what it would have been like to meet the real Tomoe Gozen. I'd probably faint.

She was an extremely powerful woman. Not the type to just sit back at home and do the cooking!

So many games and shows have used her character. She's one of the famous women of Japanese history, so a bunch of creators use her for inspiration.

It's debated whether or not Tomoe is real or not, with most people leaning towards fiction. Heike Monogatari, though, is based on the real life battle between the Taira and Minamoto clans.
