Description Here is the outcome of about a month's labors...Aria, a 4.5" tall polymer clay BJD. (Sorry for the photo quality, my Canon and I were having a spat yesterday).

She is an OOAK made by me out of a mix of Prosculpt and Living Doll, with aluminum tubing inside the arms and legs, and wire hooks inside the feet and hands for the elastic string.

You can read more about her creation on my blog at: [link]

Aria (which means "song" or "air") in Latin, will have blue-green eyes and ginger hair with handmade clothes. It will take me a while, but she will be finished one day! And since she is in 1:12 scale, you can expect to see her in some cool dollhouses in the future.

A big thank you to everyone here on DA that gave me advice while making her!

Now I know why we haven't seen much of you lately.

Indeed, and sorry about that, I have been trying to post on here more. This thing has been a huge time sink. I never realized it would take so long to sculpt, but I think it was largely the size and because with the aluminum tubing inside, I had to make each part individually. She is 1:12 scale though, meaning she can play with all of the things that go in standard dollhouses.

Good job on you posting regularly

It's because I am a victim of the recession and am temporarily unemployed. I therefore have a bit more time than usual to "play". Watch this space while I am still able.

Well wouldn't you know, so am I . I left a position a while ago (they needed a seasoned vet, not a newbie grad like me, and decided they would fix that by giving me the workload of a senior clinician until I caught up or became exhausted. Wishcraft Studio came out of that extra time. Best of luck finding your new path!

Looks good! Very clean work, especially with how small she is. Can't wait to see her finished.

Thank you! She is indeed very tiny...not doing that again anytime soon. I am anxious to see the finished doll as well...I haven't done a faceup before.

hehe, yeah, it's a lot of work. I still haven't finished mine. If you haven't tried a faceup before I would highly recommend practicing a little bit first, using either mess-up attempts at doll heads or at least drawing out a general design.. I don't know about you, but I always mess up the first time xD

Yeah, I mess up multiple times...there could almost be another doll somewhere made from the mistakes of this one. I have a little of her clay left over and will be doing some test finishes. Her color is actually a little dingy (I think she has been absorbing oils from my hands or something with all of the handling), so I am hoping the pastels bring her back some.

Oh, I hate it when polymer clay gets all dingy like that. You really can't tell in the photo though! Best of luck!

Yeah...I gave all the parts a quick bath and I think it helped. May get the faceup done today

You did a good job. I tried to sculpt a head for a doll, but it came out kinda lumpy and uneven. You have experience sculpting?

Thank you! And I do have some practice, but it did take me two tries to get a reasonable head.
