I could say that most of the time the blur effect doesn't go very well with vectors, but honestly, I think it suits everything well. Awesome job.

thankyou. this is my most unappreciated and i'll go as far to say: also my most technical artwork in my deviantart profile, thanks for giving it some recognition

100% vector? how could you possibly shade that smoothly only using vectors?

gavwoodhouse In reply to punkie078 [2007-10-03 08:37:15 +0000 UTC]

haha im sort of flattered that you think im a liar
have you used illustrator? there are options to add limited effects to the shapes you draw, like a blur. after you draw the shape you want, and then chose its colour and transparency you can add an effect to its appearance. so its not shading, and as you can imagine a long painstaking process. have a look at the outline here [link] there you can see all the shapes, those shapes are different colours, transparencies and a lot have been given a blurry appearance to make the transitions between shapes seamless. im glad you questioned this, i think alot of people have skipped over it just thinking im a pathetic liar but it was alot of hard work

ah, okay I've never used illustrator, so I didn't know that that blur effect was possible. I think I prefer just solid shapes though. I think it's a neater effect.

It was just a comment. God, if you don't want people to comment on your work, disable them. You don't have to be such an ass about it.

I agree with you. He doesn't have to be such an ass about it. It's just a comment, and you're replying back with shit replies. Haha, I see you don't like criticism.

Anyway, real vectors aren't supposed to be blurred, even if it is an object. It just ruins the whole purpose of vectoring. Would do well for a digipaint.

fuckin arse, "ruins the whole purpose of vectoring"...you just proved you dont even know the purpose of a vector and probably dont understand what a vector really is.

its more than just an appearance...its how the picture is made and what its made of. illustrators ability to give its shapes a blurred appearance is revolutionary, a step forward not backward so dont criticise me implementing it.

Lol, you're the fucking ass. Calm down, hun. You put your art up on a website where everyone can criticize and comment what they want on it, and you're taking it harshly. If you can't take it, don't put it up, simple as that. I do understand what a vector is, but blurring it doesn't really make it a vector.

fuckin idiot, blurred or not, VECTOR is the type of fucking format the image is...not what it looks like... so theres no question its a vector. im calm, this is just how i talk to silly people

I have to agree with punkie078. If this was a digipainting, then it would be awesome. Real vectors are not blurred whatsoever.

the vector is the type of file, the format of the image, not the style of its appearance. this is a vector and couldnt be any more"real"

gavwoodhouse In reply to themarkster [2008-04-03 05:08:11 +0000 UTC]

you idiot...this is 100% real vector, jealous fuck.
the blurring is just different properties given to the shape in the appearance options. it is all vector, all points and lines plotted in illustrator which it renders to make the image!! you cant call it anything else and it is awesome
