Ifrit, also spelled efreet, also ifreet, afrit, afreet (Arabic: ʻAfrīt: عفريت, pl ʻAfārīt: عفاريت), are a kind of Jinn mentioned in the Qur'an.An ‘Afrît (strong one) from the jinn said: "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place. And verily, I am indeed strong, and trustworthy for such work. One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture said: "I will bring it to you within the twinkling of an eye!" Then when Solomon saw it placed before him, he said: "This is by the Grace of my Lord - to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! And whoever is grateful, truly, his gratitude is for (the good of) his ownself; and whoever is ungrateful, (he is ungrateful only for the loss of his ownself). Certainly my Lord is Rich (Free of all needs), Bountiful. Sura An-Naml:40. (27:40)
In the Final Fantasy series and several another games, Ifrit has become a trademark representative of the element of fire, and appears to be a horned demonic entity in most of the artistic imagery of the game.
Ifrit was one of my favorite magical creatures since i read Bastard!! a long time ago and played FF (of course!!), also this pic have a little reminicent to Warcraft (what i can say? love that game)

When I read the title, the very first thing that came to my mind was the Esper from FFVI. But looking at it close up, I see a very strong likeness to Sargeras from the Warcraft franchise. Both games hold very special places in my heart, so I mean that in a complimentary way.

ive met ifrit, surrounded by red waves that seem like fire, black eyes with red pupils, yellow horns, green wrinkley face, yellow dagger teeth, tounge like a snake and the feature of an old woman and man together

Efreet is also famous for being the summon spirit of fire in the Tales of series. there is also Undine, the summon spirit of water, Gnome, the summon spirit of Earth, Sylph, the summon spirit of wind, and finally Maxwell the summon spirit who resides over the other four summon spirits. there are more but they are the main ones. Efreet was my favorite one as well.

Very well done - I wish I could produce art like that. And now, for the crazy/insane romantic in me...I would then see what he is protecting...hmmm, perhaps an innocent mortal woman early 20's? Or considering this is a fantasy piece, perhaps a being of light - an elf? whoever she is, I can see her pale and clad in white or light clothing, perhaps ready to defend her guardian love (yes, I'm nuts - love the beauty and the beast themes) or is she fearful of what he is standing up to? Like I said crazy/insane romantic.
If you do add anyone else to this piece I'd place her behind the demon, and behind his right side - but that's the nut in me talking.

i never really studied islamic religion but its something i plan on doing when i have the time for it. knowing this i have never heard of an ifrit but this representation of one looks really cool! i've always been fascinated with demons though and yeah it looks pretty demonic, but again, i've never studied the islamic religion.
