Description A common scene around the country side here are these White Prickly Poppies , barbed wire and bees. But, to see them all together is a real treat at least for me it was

---------------------------------------

White Prickly Poppy Argemone albiflora

---------------------------------------

Taken with a 75-300mm lens

---------------------------------------

I put this under flowers and plants but, I really wanted to put it in Landscape as it seemed more like a full scene to me rather than just a flower pic What do you think? Should I leave it in flowers & plants or put it in Landscape?

Wow. I don't know why I'm so mesmerized by this photo. It's not just the shot (which is amazing, by the way) but something about this image just really touches me. I can't explain it.

Me too. What a beautiful flower to have so many prickly thorns. As always, an excellent capture. Well done!!

Yeah not one I get too close to because of those thorns Also, I have been warned by locals that this flower/plant if touched causes a burning sensation on the skin. I had found the link a long time ago but since changing computers I lost it so I can't verify it for certain that it is true

Thank you

Thank you very much The bee was pure luck I was taking pics of the flower itself with the wire and I was hoping for a bee to come as they do love those poppies and I just got lucky

Great capture! Luck, or were you chasing that bee?

GeodeLady In reply to Regen [2006-06-05 04:48:16 +0000 UTC]

Thank you Actually I was taking a shot of the flower and for some reasons bees just love those poppies anyways it was luck as much as I hate to admit it

Regen In reply to GeodeLady [2006-06-07 18:34:44 +0000 UTC]

Luck is good.

I think one would need a trained bee for a planned one, or else go chasing after it like I did for one of my early pictures.

GeodeLady In reply to Regen [2006-06-07 18:53:53 +0000 UTC]

Chasing is fun especially when peeps are around cause then you get to look like a loon who just escaped from the looney bin I remember my daughters bus driver from last year thought there was something wrong with me because I would wait in the yard for her and chase butterflies with my camera She was a little embarassed cause they all thought I was psycho

Ah, for the love of art. I sometimes wonder what people think if they see me taking pictures of a wall or a rusted object, for texture shots in my stock account. I got a lot of odd looks the day I chased the bee, and aware of that, I then stood up and took a picture of the sidewalk, flash and all. They looked away. I guess that was TOO weird.

It can be a lot of fun! I looooove to mindfuck the unsuspecting.

Have you ever seen Harold and Maude?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

GeodeLady In reply to Regen [2006-06-07 20:31:20 +0000 UTC]

I remember seeing it a long time ago but, I don't remember what it was about.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Regen In reply to GeodeLady [2006-06-07 20:35:29 +0000 UTC]

A young man, Harold, stages various suicidal scenes to get at his mother... and he goes to funerals and meets and falls in love with 80 year old Maude. Lots of mindfucking there! I adore the movie.

I would keep it in 'flowers and plants', Hun. I don't see much of a landscape. Your main subject is that flower. Don't cha think, Hun???? I like that Texas country feeling to this shot. Nice capture of that bee in flight.

GeodeLady In reply to Xondria [2006-06-03 03:02:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah but, I just thought it was more of a scenery pic rather then just a flower pic.....Thanks

I was looking for a longhorn somewhere in the corner.

Gorgeous - all pieces work together and the light is splendid. Plus my favorite black background. The white poppy WITH thorns is something I have to see. The marvels of nature are bottomless it seems.

"Flowers & Plants" definitely as there is not a pinch of land for "landscapes" visible. It would be "scenery" if ^garrit will have his way with changing categories in nature section.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

GeodeLady In reply to Irena-N-Photography [2006-05-28 18:19:57 +0000 UTC]

I have a longhorn somewhere in my gallery.... and it would have been a classic postcard shot if there had been one in this*sigh* that would be a cool capture.

Thank you so much I can't find the info. but I did have it at one time that these flowers if you touch them cause a burning sensation on your skin.

Scenery would have been a perfect location for it.

Irena-N-Photography In reply to GeodeLady [2006-05-28 18:42:38 +0000 UTC]

I checked my books - we don't have them growing here, just the *ordinary* poppies. So I'm safe.

You are most welcome, Kirsten.
