Description Gwindor vs Thalmor Solstheim Expeditionary Force, the biggest battle I've drawn (so far!). Gwindor doesn't use weapons, so there's no clashing steel etc. typical battle things, just lots of fire. He tried to summon armored Daedroth (Steve), but got Daedric chicken instead (a cameo appearance). That's what you get for relying on spells made by Sheogorath...

Edit: Added some extra ham.
Edit 2: I forgot half of the snow!

About Zombie Dovahkiin Quest:

This is a Elder Scrolls fanart comic that plays with alternative version of Skyrim's plot, where the game's events are derailed when the hero doesn't quite make it. Main character Gwindor the high elf mage is both the protagonist and the occasional narrator of the story. My goal is to make dozens of parts long story arc that stays lorefriendly(ish).

Comments are very welcome (they often give me ideas for the plot), feel free to ask about anything and offer suggestions.

Bonus part: ZDQ Extra - Argonian apparel
Cover: ZDQ 0 - Zombie Dovahkiin Quest cover
First: ZDQ 1 - So I killed the last best hope of Tamriel
Previous: ZDQ 29 - I, Thalmor
Next: ZDQ 31 - Escape from Fort Skeeverhole
All parts: Skyrim comic

*Panel 8*... well I guess your adventure ends here. Here's your guard armor and list of generic guard things to say. You can choose to work in any of the nine holds of Skyrim. Enjoy =^.^=

LOL, if only Serana's undead chicken really would blow fire. Would finally have some use ... (that panel was hilarious, btw)!

He DID NOT just take an arrow to the knee, did he???

Lovely work on the glass armor!

And yeah, Gwindor should think about wearing proper armor when he fights a small Thalmor. Maybe something made out of Stalthrim?

Perilously close to the knee territory at least.

Oh, thanks! I found glass armors rather difficult to draw.

Uh huh. Might as well be the knee.

They are! If you saw how I originally drew glass armor.... I'm actually quite happy I have Erik in Dawnguard armor now.

"Behold the future! Behold the Thalmor!" is one of my favorite lines from Skyrim because of a little incident when I used a Thalmor patrol as test subjects for some console magic. I turned them into cows and just kinda stared at them, enjoying my work when they decided to aggro on me. Hearing that line coming from a bunch of cows was one of my favorite moments in Skyrim.

I myself used "setrace chickenrace" on Thalmor. You could still see he had a tiny glass mace as a chicken!

Still doesn't compare to Daedric chicken, though. Thanks, Sheogorath!

Fire-breathing chicken FTW!

And did Gwindor just get shot in the knee? I guess he will be turning into a guard soon.

He might indeed (technically) have to turn into a guard within next few pages.

I have a feeling my own Skyrim character would love to see the fire-breathing chicken in action (she's also a pyro).

I'm not surprised. Getting shot in the knee is a job requirement for becoming a guard. If Gwindor is able to avoid permanent guard duty, he really should get a decent pair of knee pads.

Tehe, the Daedric Chicken! I hope Gwindor's no longer carrying that Elder Scroll, or things could get even more hairy.

323 days without the "arrow in the knee joke"
0 days without the "arrow in the knee" joke

Though I guess crime rates would plummet if a trigger happy pyromancer with his loyal Daedric chicken joined the coppers.

Fire breathing chicken! Wouldn't it just be Horrible if one of the many other mean and nasty residents of the island decide to join in on the fun? And couldn't Serena just bat-poof her way down? or is it too far a distance?

ghost-of-raisin In reply to ripond [2015-03-29 23:05:38 +0000 UTC]

I think those mean and nasty residents will keep healthy distance from this mess.
I forgot about the bat power! Although it's range is rather limited, so she probably would unpoof mid-air if she tried.

I don't think Serana is motivated enough to drop down a cliff and be stabbed by small army of Thalmor as a distraction...

Crazy eyes made a come back a few times, also it might just be the armour he's wearing but he looks like he gained a little weight and is looking healthier. I approve.

The panel with the chicken spewing fire... the lady elf (I assume it's a lady sometimes it's hard to tell with elves) looks like she's being tickled to death lol

Nothing like battling a small army of Thalmor to bring forth the crazy eyes. I guess he looks more sturdy because of the overcoat of the robes.

I tweaked it a little. She (boobplate and more prominent lips are about the only differences...) should look a bit more "aaagh my eyes" and less "teheheee" now.

Wait so... he learned all his magic from his mother? How on earth has his spells not backfired more often on him? Or caused hordes of wild piglets to fill rooms.

She used to be a hyper-competent adventurer and could have taught ordinary spells before becoming too Sheogorathy. The summoning spell on the other hand is completely new spell made by her and so is predictably unpredictable.

Ioik In reply to ghost-of-raisin [2015-03-31 01:37:19 +0000 UTC]

How old was Gwinsalot before she went to the mad side anyway? I got the impression he grew up in crazy land so assumed all the spells were a bit on the loony side and maybe he spent some time uninsanitizing them or maybe that's why he sticks to fire spells so much... they're nuts from the get go so I could see Shegorath leaving them to do their job.

ghost-of-raisin In reply to Ioik [2015-03-31 10:54:46 +0000 UTC]

I haven't decided the exact details here so they may change. I might do a prequel or something about his earlier misadventures, after this storyline is done.

I'd say it happened gradually within first couple of decades. Of course even before she went full Sheo he still lived in realm of the mad. He may try to counter this by being very practical, like using fire spells simply because they are most cost effective (you may have noticed he never uses fire against dragons though).

Most of the spells he knows would be usual, with some special spells made by himself and mother dearest. And he knows how to make fire spells have more oomph (like perks in-game) probably by using them in less safe ways (though after two centuries of practice that isn't a problem anymore).

As for his skills in conjuration, living in Daedric realm ought to give him insight in summoning magic. He also may have little something to make it and necromancy - which he learned later - much easier.

I don't know why those soldiers weren't afraid for their lives when he summoned that chicken in front of all their attacks...

Don't they know what happens to those who attack chickens?

Chickens are immortal and are capable of summoning millions of their brethren to attack those foolish enough to assault them.

I guess they don't teach genre savviness in Thalmor training.
