took 'bout 10 hours, carved cow bone brooch
There are minor imperfections in bone, but I like it this way. Nothing is flawless

beautiful work, I really like the complexity of the design and how you pulled it off....lots of detail but not overwhelming to the eyes....very cool!

This one is very nice. Hey - might I ask what you use for carving bone and how you remove the fat from within the bone?

Half of my bones are coming from soup (bone soup is a regular meal here) and in that case we eat the marrow with toast (not recommended if you are on a diet ). The bad part is that some of the fat is entering to the bone during the boiling. The more disgusting way is to remove it cold with a knife or anything and boil it after that (I can't tell you how disgusting this could be). In both cases a reboiling with detergents is also necessary. Foe carving them I'm using saws to cut down the big parts, then a rotary tool to make the curves, than files again the rotary tool, and then sandpapers to 1200 grit to polish them. Sometimes I also apply carnauba wax onto them but that is very rare.

Hmm, I have deboned meat before, although it was chicken bones and they do not really make good carving material. However I have never considered boiling in detergents, a friend of mine kept a boiled clean duck bone and kept on complaining about the oils it releases, so she put it in toilet washing liquid, although I do not know how it turned out for her after that. I`ve not heard of that duck bone again

Totally awesome!
Would a piece like this be for sale?

Thank you. It is not for sale yet, but I'm thinking on to sell some of my pieces in the future. If U are interested I will send U a note, when I feel I'll be able to sell them.

ez egy kitűző akar lenni, bar a vékonyabb ruhákat lehuzza egy kicsit.
