Description For those of you who didn't like the stately standing of Galen, here he is in action. Yes, that is Aesmodeus from my stories, and yes, I have mentioned a few times that he is in fact a giant snake. Normally, you're not supposed to mention that Aesmodeus is a giant snake, because well, his true form had been damaged in a powerful battle. The charismatic looking man with the evil gotee and the devil horns is just an illusion he would conjure up to hide his now marred, damaged form.

And when Galen/King Bahamut shoots something, he is going to blow a hole in it. There has never really been images of King Bahamut using his breath weapon while attacking something...well outside of Final Fantasy images. But in games like D&D, he's never been shown to use his...Mega Flare. Yes, that's where Square Nix got it from, D&D. Bahamut does have a breath weapon that can pretty much atomize a planet.

One thing about Galen, he doesn't have a set size. Normally he appears as a dragon in my stories, he doesn't appear in human form at all. And depending on who he's talking to, he will take on the size of that person. When he spoke to Sam, he was human sized, when he hangs around Jonathan, when Jon's in his dragon form, Galen/Bahamut is of equal size to Jonathan. The largest I've imagined Bahamut is the size of the Earth itself, especially when he's doing space battles. But normally, Bahamut, the King of Dragons, ranges from 15 feet long to 500 feet long. But he has no set size.

Both Bahamut's and Aesmodeus' designs are Β© Ghostwalker2061

Some editing done here as well.

PS: I forgot a point. In the neck, under the 4e scales, we see a point red.

Another good work, and I dig the subject matter. I really like the Pit Snake, and the tense action. B blowing a hole right through A is pretty cool. However, I feel B's hair, as rendered, seems a little lifeless and there is something off about tbe breathweapon to me as well. It seems like the angle changes little after hitting A. Maybe this is intended, but it just looks off to me. Also, I think the lighting could match/emphasize the action the scene more by being more dramatic. More contrast with darker shadows type thing. That's it really. Another good work - thank you for sharing.

Brilliant picture! I see that you based Asmodeous on his D&D 'Ahriman/Serpent of Law' incarnation. I love that someone done finaly this fight, especialy that good ol' Bahamut is the first mentioned Celestial Paragon. I think he, Tiamat, Io and other are rather like Asmodeus and Lady of Pain, older entities that only are took now for gods, coming from a much older age.

The epic battle is an amazing form for this art piece. Also the light and dark between the two make for an epic and climatic battle.

I had a similar battle in the works for a campaign I'm writing, do you mind if I were to use this picture for it?

This particular Bahamut has nothing really to do with D&D except it's Bahamut vs. Aesmodeus.

He's fun to play with. I really do want to do a full story that's about Bahamut and focuses on his character and his struggles. He may be a god, but he's got a lot of baggage.

Lovely work! I'm enjoying the movement shown in your piece. What is the necklace that Bahamut is wearing? I don't recall reading anything about that. You did a great job portraying all 6 wings and their muscular designs here, and the detail on the pit lord is engaging to look at. Yay for more Bahamut photos! Thank you for sharing, Ghost.

Oh, action-packed. Not quite how I was imagining Aesmodeus, I was expecting something more demonic but your design is nice too. (Though the whole lava-theme kinda reminds me of Nel) What I would have done different is making sure that I'd see the whole of Bahamut's handsome face. The breath weapon here is in the way. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing/hearing more from those two guys in the future, they are after all neat concepts to work with.

I thought about doing a whole story about Bahamut. Or at least how Galen got to be Bahamut.

Well, Aesmodeus was supposed to be still kinda sorta wounded and given that he's basically the devil and we equate the devil with fire and brimstone and such, giving him Nel's fiery look made sense.

The breath weapon is so bright it's supposed to obscure Bahamut himself. He basically fires the dame thing, there's this bright light, then...well, atoms after that. I might do another image of Bahamut, more up close again and maybe not as stately and regal as most equate him as either. I did this sketch of Bahamut kinda looking sad and pathetic because, well, he's the God of Fuck-ups apparently. Hair in his eyes, looking disshoveled, not at all what the Dragon King is supposed to look like, but more like what Galen as Bahamut is supposed to look like.

Aesmodeus forgot rule 34 of the Evil Overlord list: "I will not turn into a snake. It never helps."

Ghostwalker2061 In reply to Netarliargus [2012-11-18 01:42:52 +0000 UTC]

He doesn't turn into a snake, he was already a snake who uses an avatar separate than his snake form to talk to people.

Nice, I was wondering what Aesmodeus' actual appearance is from your Crimson Dragon story.

Speaking of Crimson, does this mean we may see more chapters in the future?

I also know a guy who might be able to take on dragons...
