I think everyone is used to see colours pumped up with photoshop and they don't understand that the light and the distance combinations lowers contrast. So what you have shown us is a true depiction of the scene and very beautiful it is too. very National Geographic if I may say.

I usually don't take pictures when I travel, preferring to spend the time actually enjoy the fact that I'm there rather than waste time trying to capture the feeling in a photograph. Photographs which could never compare to the experience of actually being there. E.g., a few years ago I went to the Grand Canyon for the first time and was just... totally amazed. Even professional photos could not inspire the feeling I had when I stood and took in the sheer size of the Canyon.
That said, even though I'm sure the actual place will be far more beautiful, I think you did a very good job of capturing the moment. While I can't say I feel as awe-inspired as when I was at the GC, I do feel very small (in a good way!) when viewing this photograph. The backdrop of continuous mountain ranges just makes me feel so good to be alive. X)
