Atlas bounded from the kitchen, a big smile on his face. Guess who just discovered more about crystal ponies?! He darted down the small hallinto the living room, eagerly looking for his father. There he sat, looking outwards at the snow.
“Daddy!” Atlas yelled basically bouncing to his dad. His dad didn’t turn his head, but instead gave him a small glance. His eyes darted back to the window completely ignoring his kid.
“Daddy youtube never going to believe it! Did you know that there is a special crystal pony kingdom that still exists out there? They have such weird eating habits. Not to mention this weird horn thing. Ooh they also have..” Atlas droned on and not realizing that his father was growing more and more agitated.
“Do you ever stop talking?!” Grogar hissed, his eyes narrowed at Atlas. His voice was deep and stern.
Atlas stopped as he felt his heart drop a bit. The foal's ears dropped as he awkwardly looked at the ground. His body tensed as he could feel his face become hot.
“Daddy i just thought that maybe…”
“And quit calling me Daddy.” He fully turned his head to look at Atlas. “As far as i’m concerned you're not my kid.” Quickly Grogar got up and began to head to the door, leaving the helpless foal in shock. Before he could reach the door Atlas swiftly jumped in front of him.
“You ARE my dad.” Atlas said firmly. His gaze was firm as he started his father down. He is my dad. He has been here!
Grogar eerily leaned down to his level and looked him dead in the eyes. He let out a soft sigh and said in a dead tone “You're not my son. You never will be my son, and as far as I'm concerned you’ll stay out of my way and life.” He gently brushed the foal aside and headed off into the snow, not a care in the world.
Now the tears just couldn’t help themselves, like a water the fell, not end in sight.
“YOU ARE MY DAD! And that means you're supposed to be there for me!” he stamped his hoof in agitation trying to think of anything he could say or do to get him to stay.
“Enough ok?” Grogar was now livid. His attempts to leave stopped by the small foal once again. “I don’t want you nor do I want to be your dad. So do what’s for the better and get lost.” Before atlas could try again his father already began trotting away into the snow.
For the better? Really? He looked back at his house, face still warm with tears. As he walked defeatedly back to his house all he could think in his mind was that maybe it was for the better.
Yeah, although he wished it wasn’t.
