I hate anti-base people, they annoy me so much. I made an opinion on how people should stop bashing bases and 3 people wanted to bash THEIR opinions to my skull. Just accept bases, people. It's not like it's gonna end the world or kill you. I swear to God, I was only telling people to lighten up, but people nowadays just decided to be stupid and hate something that's only here to be USED, not to be stolen from and besides, most people drawn their favorite characters without asking the original creator. XD

THANK YOU, a lot of these anti bases things are killing me inside. I love designing clothes and fantasy outfit but draw a model is time consuming and eats up inspiration, leaving me not want to draw any more so the outfit is never drawn and is, eventually, forgotten.

I agree. While in a commission or art trade, I would NEVER use one. I don't think they should be bashed. Some people do really good jobs on them.

I love bases, I'm able to draw without them but I still use bases because they're fun, and make character design easier.
And technically speaking Bases = Drawing with help... so long as the user isn't lazy and doesn't work at all on the base, and adds like one line and uses the fill bucket.

I agree, when I was little I spent ages copying images off the front of Disney boxes and other DVD's/Videos, not the image but the pose and perspective and stuff. And when I'd finished I felt very proud and took offence to people yelling at me and saying it's not art all because I didn't come up with the pose myself. Some people find it hard to compose an image by themselves and need help there but are very talented when drawing figures and charaters etc. So they shouldn't be comdemed for using an aid. Because I'm sure even the base haters started off drawing from bases (like copying comic book or illustrations from books) without realising it.

I don't mind bases, but when pepole fill their gallerys with them, and don't make at elast three attempts to draw something thereselfs, then theres a problem.

I don't want to hate, but I think bases are good only when you use them as a reference for a drawing. Anyone can practice doing that. And when people make a base and want people to credit them, it's ridiculous. All they did was slap it into MSPaint or some other program ad trace it with their mouse.

See, I'm more of a writer, so I don't really have any drawing skill.
I like filling bases in, simply because it's fun.
Plus, as I fill in bases, I'm learning about shading and body shape and stuff.
That way, I'm learning, and might eventually be able to get out of my comfort zone and draw physically.
As for the "draw your own art n00b" arguments, I'd like to point out that basically nobody here has the creator's permission to draw (insert anime/Marvel/DC/etc. character here).
