Description A concept that's been in my head for a while now, Samus Aran, galaxy-renowned intergalactic bounty hunter and destroyer of worlds, showing off her softer side in the confines of her gunship's quarters as she warms up to the affections of the larval Metroid from SR388 while en route to the Ceres Space Colony. She knows she'll have to give it up as soon at she arrives at her destination, but for now she's just lost in the moment...

I don't know how plausible this kind of scene would be, as I imagine deliberately exposing oneself to a life-draining parasite, harmless infant or not, isn't exactly the smartest thing to do, but that's what artistic license is for after all. I also took care to make sure Samus was more in line with her buffed-up Super Metroid appearance as opposed to her more recent incarnations, as it is my humble opinion that that single coat of blue paint-weaing Barbie doll can go dive under a bus.

I love the fact that someone as tough as Samus can have a nice soft side. Good job!

That you'd want to climb into bed with this version of Samus renews my faith in the human race

I love this! How in the world do you make the glow so bright that i can't look directly at it?! Awesome!

I have no idea what she looks like without her mask, and now i don't even need to look at an official art. Definitely digging the jellyfish thingy. This was SO worth the wait!

...I can't help it, but now I'm getting a vision... maybe you drawing Vasquez in a similar scene.

Thanks! I was wondering if I went overboard with the glow, but I wanted to capture that whole high-tech ship interior-look, and everyone knows that if you want something to look advanced these days you just add copious amounts of Tron glows to its surface. (And the bright look is very simple, just a white base with the outer glow photoshop effect applied to it; the end result looked better than I thought it would...)

As far as how she looks without her helmet, it actually varies widely throughout the series due to the evolving art style; lots of videogame characters go through that kind of development. Here she is from the ending of Super Metroid [link] and here's a more recent version of her: [link] if you want to get a better idea of what I meant in the last sentence of the artist comments...graphical improvements aside, devolving art style is more like it IMHO, stupid pandering to the lowest common denominator...

Though with Vasquez, the only similar scene I can think of is her sitting on a bunk cuddling a chestburster...excuse me...

oh that's right! I did play SSBM and SSBB so I have seen her before without her helmet. silly me! Ah yes... Tron glow. i have no idea why they redid that one. if you ask me, they should've done a remake of "The Black Hole", though i can't remember that movie for the life of me.

wow, i was talking about the LCD with a buddy of mine just the other day. i swear if i have to change my style just to get sales, i'll quit before i start

you draw her hair much better than it's done now... the most recent style reminds me a Lara Croft from the PSX version.... ya know , i never played a Tomb Raider game either!

heheheh Vasquez cleaning her smart gun with a face hugger chillin' in the back.

I need to get around seeing "The Black Hole," though they really are doing a remake of it, with the same director as "Tron: Legacy" to boot: [link]

You're in the right frame of mind if you'd rather quit than sell out like that, though I doubt that'll be necessary as not all publishers pander to the LCD, (Valve and their Half-Life games are a major example: [link] ) just a good many of them do just to make a quick buck. Besides, you wouldn't want awkward nerds to club your products with a jawbone and drag it into a cave by its hair, speaking of Tomb Raider: [link]

"[T]he jellyfish thingy"? That's... that's a Metroid. It's what the whole series of games is named for. Have you never played any of them? Because you really need to do that. One of Nintendo's flagship franchises, and a heck of a lot of fun besides.
