Description
Ame-onna (雨女): Ame-onna are female spirits who appear on rainy days. In the past, people believed Ame-onna are rain minor deities who can summon rain wherever they go. The rain can save villages but sometime can also cause disasters as well. The origin of Ame-onna is said to be from China. For alternative tales, Ame-onna are malevolent spirits who use to be human; mothers who lost their children and out of grief they became spirits who would kidnap children on rainy days and nights.(From WMA-032-雨女)
