Description Studio project, Don Quixote, again. I am not happy with it, but it needs to be finished for now. Deadlines suck.

BW "realistic" version:[link]

Help me out, ya'll - tell me what needs to be done to make this better.

Oh this is looking great! And yeah... silly deadlines. For me though, I love this, but since you'd like critique on it: some of the lines are a bit fuzzy where I feel they should be sharper, for example the tip of Don Quixote's lance. Also I think since the sun seems to be really strong (or at least that's my impression) the shadows should be a lot lot darker and more defined. But these are really minor things, I think what you've got is great for tomorrow. I can't wait to see the back cover to this!

Thanks, sweetie! I took your advice and sharpened some of the line work in the b/w version, and darkened some of the shadows. Thanks so much for the help!!

I like it!
But Rossinant looks too strong ang and healthy.
I worked for 16 hours yesterday because of the deadline! And have to continue in in all the oncoming days. But it's my own fault...

That's true, she does look very...sturdy... doesn't she? This picture is actually supposed to be from Quixote's own point of view... rather brighter and rosier than the reality of his adventures... so maybe Rocinante's robustness could be reasonable? Hm. Maybe...lol

Good luck with your own project! (Try to get some sleep in all those work hours...)

Thank you, Vizen. I think that I can just see how much better it would be if I could work on it for a couple more days...

Thanks so much! I'm so glad that you liked it. It's a great story! Even though my illustration isn't faithful to the letter of the book, I respect Quixote's message so much. I meant this picture to represent what Quixote himself saw, because I think that his romanticized view of the world resonated so strongly in the hearts and hopes of readers that we remember his story with a glow of happiness and nobility, rather than the sad, sane ending that Cervantes gave him. Does that come through well?

oh yes indeed! people should have their own view in life, regardless of others point of view! I'm not bashing on people with the same point of view, i'm just saying some variety would be nice now and then!
