Description
Jews and Parthians:
From the time of Bokhtonnathr II, Jews began construction of some buildings in Mesopotamia and their numbers in those vicinities, especially in Babylon and Mesopotamia was larger than others. Unlike the Seleucid Greeks who were intolerant towards Jews, Parthians had no prejudice in religion, they even gave Jews many opportunities . The Jews even established an association in the Parthian territories legally recognized by the Parthian government. The Arsacids protected the Jews against Greeks and Syrians, and in return they payed Parthians and every couple of years sent a part of their trading profits to Jerusalem, the religious capital of the Jews.
After the Roman defeat at Carrhae, the Parthians took over the major part of Levant and Mesopotamia and defeated the Seleucids for good. The Jews whose temples were looted by Romans troops, took arms and assisted Parthians to drive Romans out of the Levant. Hirkanius, a local Jewish king came into conflict with his nephew, Antigon. After Antigon was defeated, he sought support from Parthians; a Parthian prince named Pacorus helped him to overthrow his uncle, so a vassal Jewish state was established in Jerusalem and Antigon became the religious King of the Jews. Antigon sent a thousand talans and five thousand Jewish women to Pacorus as gift in graditude for his assistance.
The story of two Babylonian Jewish brothers:
Anilai and Asinai were two Jewish brothers working in a workshop in Babylonia, who were treated unjustly by their master. They managed to escape from him, gathered some thugs arround them and began to plunder villages and caravans. After Mehrdad the Local Parthian governor failed to stop them, Orodes king of Parthia agreed to negotiations with them after which Asinai, the older brother, was assigned to governance of Babylon and Anilai even married a noble Parthian woman. After a while Anilai poisoned his brother and took over the throne. He revolted against the Arsacid central government, despite his initial successes, he was finally defeated by a Parthian army led by Mehrdad, however he survived and managed to escape to a small town called Ara, his final fate remains unknown.
