Description From an undated black and white photo - probably around 1960. Old trawler from Grimsby ( or Hull?) towed away for scrapping. Why? Dunno - just fell in love with the scenery..  watercolour, W&N, Hahnenmuhle paper, 24 * 36 cm.

Thanks! The rise and fall of the high sea trawler fleet from Grimsby and Hull, is a facinating, albeit somewhat sad story - but as a naval officer Living in UK, I'd guess you know all about that..

Stan Rogers sang a song called "The Last Watch" .  Your title and picture reminded me of it.

I would also have fallen in love with the scenery, probably because  long and slim boats, even if they are fishing boats or tug boats, have a certain majesty which catches the beauty-seeking eyes. And the calm waters are there to reflect this majesty...

Thanks for commenting..As most danes, I plainly just loves everything about the sea..been sailing most of my life, and though I don't earn my living from the sea, my family  has a long naval/ maritime history. Especially elderly, battleproven vessels like this one to me has a particular grace, reflecting their hard life and the struggling of the fishermen who once manned the boat..
And certainly more fun to paint than more modern fish factories..
