special commission. I got to do pretty much anything I wanted so long as it kept to a particular theme.Painted in primarily acrylic ink with some other acrylic. I'm still boning up on my traditional painting skills. My experience consists of one intro class in college and not enough practice. So it was good practice.
I might put it away a while and see how I feel about it later.
O yes, and the original is rather small. Something like 6 by 8.5 inches. And it looks so much better than the scan. >_< I did my best, but you know how it is.

Nice, I can very easily picture him to be a masai or something like that. Don't know if those guys work with totems, but if they do, this could be one. beautiful, once again.

The pose definitely portrays someone wild and majestic. I love the high contrast, makes for something dramatic. I don't know how I feel about the background colors. They also add drama but it feels displaced. The dark colors make me think it's a storm which doesn't seem to fit with the story that I get from the character. The jewelry looks fantastic and completely natural. I can't believe you painted small enough to get them in there. The shield seems a bit lacking in highlights but maybe that's because I'm thinking it's made of metal. The folds on the cape where it lays over the right arm seems a bit overdone. Fewer folds would have looked just fine and possibly match the direction of the draping better. It's all still far better than anything I can make as of yet.

In addition to all the detail and colours, something that struck my eyes is the beautiful shading! The red light reflected off of the robes are excellently applied onto the limbs of the serval, and so is the sky's blue hue. Very full of feeling!

The traditional painting give us more feeling. The process when it through and also the texture. Sometime in digital we cannot really achieve the tex. It an awesome work.
