Description Always watched, always under surveillance, the convict Umataro Tenma can put his foot out just in rare moments. And Atom, his robot-son, is always with him. A gentle gesture tells him is time to go. No home to go, just a prison, but the time has been good, for a while.

I wonder, if Hamegg and Tenma are in the same prison but in different cells like in my story, how would Hamegg feel whenever Tawashi and the other policefolk allow Atom to take Tenma outside like this?

Ah ah, I think he could be multi-shaded green for jealousy. If he treated Atom better, maybe this extra day could be Ok even for him.
Tenma is still a dangerous fellow, but Atom has got some good power on him, a kind of power that Hamegg does not understand. So, in spite of the fact doctor Tenma can't love his son as he himself wanted, he finds he's better than Hamegg, that will never put a finger out of his cell.

It's strange, though: we all know Tenma what can do. But Hamegg? Apart use his workers as slaves (humans and robots), what did he do? Did he anything world-wide dangerous as Tenma did?

Well, in my story, Hamegg did not do anything world-wide dangerous per se, but he was shut in prison for child abuse against Atom.

So, Hamegg is supposed to get out sooner or later, while Tenma will be a prisoner forever... I don't really know how a tribunal works, and how would work in any story (mine, yours or other's). I suppose that child abuse, or robot abuse, it's not worth to a light punishment, but if we compare his with Tenma's, we'll see the difference: doctor had a worse mark than the ringmaster.
That's why Tenma can get some "free" days during his punishment and Hamegg can't: Atom's father won't be free again.

Now, that's a possibility. But Tenma feels sorry for his actions, why Hamegg doesn't, so in a way this isn't fair at all. And Hamegg might be angry and come after Atom if he ever leaves jail.

A tribunal, any court, would not give importance to how much one is sorry for what he did, I am afraid. They will not lighten Tenma's punishment, even if he would swear he'll be the best friend of mankind and the most advanced thing he will build will be an origami; on the other side, they won't give more days to Hamegg just because he's a criminal and his mind is full of bad things.
Maybe they will tell Hamegg to stay clear from Atom, to be 20 meters far away from him, or he will be caught again. But the fact is that feelings and intentions have no place where there's law.
