Description This is a painting i did in highschool with acrylics in my OAC year. We chose a theme and did a series of 5 paintings on that theme. My theme was myth in modern context.

I enjoyed the subject matter so much i decided to revisit the painting with oils this year. yes that is gold paint and yes, it was a lot of fun to use and i had to restrain myself from using too much.

If I were to do the painting all from scratch again i wouuld change a lot of things, but i still like this painting.

EDIT: I just uploaded a newer, betterer photo of this painting use caution when attempting full view ~.~

Very nice. I like how the painting is so much deeper than a physical description of reality.

Of all birds, I like ravens the most! And this raven is just... aaahhh! So very well done! I got goosebumps all over when I first saw it... and that is NOT a negative thing!

This is fantastic, great design and layout overall. I love the ripple effect you pulled off! And the bird looks great too. Yes, you should be proud. And I understand the frustration of losing detail in a photo of your work. I don't have a scanner so I use my low megapixel digital camera to take their photos to post them here on DA. Loss of detail ensues.

Thank you. Loss of detail in photos is my arch nemesis. It is impossible to get the full evvect of most of my painted work bcause iti just doesn't look right.

INDEED. I feel your pain. We should start a loss-of-detail support group!

I particularly applaud you for daring to use acrylics *shudder* I hate that medium....so smooth and quick drying, it isn't sensual enough for me...if the adjective makes any sense applied here...

well the original was in acrylisand that was way back in the day when I was learning how to paint. I did went over it again in oils more recently as I can't really stand acrylic anymore...
