so true. God just never... Felt right for me to believe. My family is Orthodox and their fine with it. And its annoying that people think that not believing in god means you follow the devil. But if you think if you don't believe on god why the hell would you also believe in his EXACT counter part? or so they say.

of course I do...agnosticism has to do with not having knowledge about something (a - without; gnosis - knowledge) and atheism has to with not believing in god/gods (from the greek atheos that means "without god").

The thing I hate is that these religous people always say: "Even though you dont believe in him, he believes in you." or they say "Oh sorry to hear that" when i say im an atheist. I feel like telling them to shove it where the sun doesnt shine.

You have to believe in Satan to worship him. I was under the impression that Atheists didn't believe in God OR Satan? And who would end or ruin the only life that they think they have?

I don't believe in Satan or God, so I don't worship any of them; but some religious people think I worship Satan because I'm atheist
I can't answer for all the atheists but for me no invisible god, satan or other deity ends or ruin the only life I have; I'm the only person responsible for my life and if I ruined it one day it will be my fault and my fault only and I'll be the one who will have to pay for the mistakes I made in this life on earth, not on the afterlife...

the problem I see in some religious people is they always give the credit to god; if they work hard to get something they want and they get it, they thank god and not themselves for it; if they don't get it they say that it was god's will or they blame god for it; the more radicals say it was the devil...it wasn't their fault if they screwed up and they take no responsability for it.
I had a housekeeper years ago, she was a heavy smoker and she said to us she wanted to stop smoking but she also said that jesus would make her stop...I told her if she waits for that to happen she's going to die of lung cancer...

most of the time logic doesn't come into the equation, blind faith is really the only explanation. as for the part about satan, while it is horrible reasoning, they see their beliefs as absolutes. therefore if your not part of their religion then that automatically shows that you are not for their god. if your not for then you must be against, there is no middle ground to them.

I think those that would make judgements like that should look inward at what makes them hurtful and mean spirited.

in that case you're are one among a few...I don't know how it's like in other places but where I live in the catholics are more tolerant with atheists and agnostics; the problem is the evangelicals and the jeovah's witnesses (if you're evangelical or jeovah witness and felt ofended by it, I'm sorry...it wasn't my intention). Well see i'm a Protestant which is completely different from Catholocism, but I'm still strong in my faith and such. But really, I don't go around shoving things down people's throats because that's the biggest turnoff to people coming to Christianity.
