Description
Commission for , who also commissioned that Solid Snake dragon last fall. This time, she asked for a girly, white and pink fairy dragon with vines and floral accents. She is holding a mystical glass gem in her tail, which shimmers in several different colors. It's a bit hard to see the colors in the glass - the top image shows it best.I wish I had gone a bit more adventurous on the wings, as something lighter/frillier might have been more fitting. I am, however, quite pleased with the floral accents, which was a new thing for me - those little pink flowers are super tiny and I mixed in a few rhinestones for good measure. Something tells me I should try making more floral dragons... I'd like to have an entire garden of these little ones. :3

Mostly by hand, but I do have a few tools that I use for small details. I used a flat, dull blade to help shape the leaves and flowers on this dragon.

Aww, I love the colors.
Out of curiosity, do you bake them with the gems/beads/rhinestones? I always get too nervous to bake things with polymer clay because I'm worried they'll melt or something.

I bake my gems and rhinestones directly onto the dragons because I use stone and glass - things that definitely won't melt at the temperature that polymer clay bakes at. I am much more cautious when it comes to plastic and paper accessories and glue most of those on after baking.

Ahhh, I keep worrying that the next thing I make will be a total flop. I just spent a few hours wrestling with some super-soft clay - soooo annoying to work with, but such a nice color! Poor dragon's covered in fingerprints, though. >__<
