Description

This dragon came into being because someone asked if I'd tried using any of the Solar Color Dust chameleon pigments on light-colored clay. I thought it could look interesting against translucent clay, so I came up with this sparkly dragon, inspired by kirin. I wanted to do some selective, individual scales, mostly along her cheeks and flanks. I ended up adding a bunch down the length of her tail as well. Body base is a white glitter clay, scales are translucent and have been dusted with Gold/Red/Purple chameleon pigment. The end result is pretty subtle - the pigment shows a nice, shimmery pink, but only at the right angle. It's much easier to see in person than in a still photograph.

Side note: Solar Color Dust has two different versions for some of their chameleon pigments. As far as I can tell, version 1 usually seems to be softer, and more pearlescent, and version 2 seems to have brighter, more sparkly particles, perhaps a bit more glitter-like than pearl-like (though both are powders, much much finer/smaller than any glitter). I don't know if this is strictly true across their entire color line.
Crafted from colored polymer clay, glass beads, and Solar Color Dust chameleon pigment (Gold/Red/Purple version 2). Sold at A-Kon 2018.
