Funny thing - I saw this in somebody else's favorites list, and immediately thought, "That title and quality of work looks on par with Huussii's work."
Well what do you know...

The lighting and the colors of this picture are as always astonishingly well done, especially the conifers in the background look beautiful in the light of the setting sun, however I don't like the square-like leaves of the tree in the foreground and the shadow of the the wheels look a little bit off to me ( I'm not so great with shadowing, but I think since the wheels aren't to far away from one another their shadows should be more similar), but overall it's a great piece of work.

A very nice picture overall.
It captures really well the moment of two siblings returning home after a long day of work, and the sunset, together with the landscape, is beautiful.
In terms of composition, I love the empty space on the right of Applejack, showing more of the path they are going through, and the spot they'll be passing by in a few seconds. I also like the plants and the tree that are closer to the "camera". They fill up the empty space just enough so that it doesn't get boring.

I adore that part of the day- when the sun is just about to go down and everything looks like it's glowing. You did an amazing job capturing that moment. It's a beautiful scene.

This is the best piece of digital art I've seen yet. I really love it! This drawing really inspired me!
I also have a question.
The paint-like effect really appeals to me, but I can't get to do it right. And since you did it so well, I would like to ask you to explain to me how you did color in your picture, with this effect. E.g. what brushes did you use, what settings, how did you color it in, and above all, how did you start(re-drawing with a tablet or just coloring in the raw sketch)?
Thanks in advance! You really got some talent here!

Thaaaankz.
I use only three stock Photoshop brushes. Round brush for soft and blooming light, stock "Chalk" brush for 90% of the stuff and stock "Watercolor" brush for the softer things like the sky. I held the brush on 70-100% opacity and 100% flow all the time, pen pressure level is set to define the size and opacity of the brush stroke.
I just started with a basic scribbly sketch. Random lines here and there to indicate where is the ground, where are the characters, where is the treeline etc. For characters I go for a little bit more accurate one.
Then it's just nothing but picking colors and wiping them on the layers, nothing more. Try to construct the overall picture (values and colors) under the sketch very early on, so the whole image becomes a color palette for your eyedropper tool. I work pretty much like I was painting a traditional piece, aside from the utilizing of layers and transform/move.

This is beautiful. Great colors in the sunset and the shadows and light falling on AJ and Big Mac really establish the mood in the picture. Love the way you did Big Mac's mane and the happy look on AJ. All in all a very lovely picture of the Apple siblings bonding on their way home from a day of hard, honest work.

This is beautiful. Gives us a glimpse at the bond between Apple Jack and Big Macintosh. Just the smile on AJ's face gives it away. It fills my heart with joy... I love the setting as the sun casts out on the two giving them a sense of another good day of work. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.

Definitely like it a lot, AJ's expression is pretty fantastic. I don't know if it falls into composition, but I'd say that the apple tree canopy could possibly be a bit more rounded on the bottom, and throwing in a branch or knot might give the tree a bit more character. I'd also say watch the shadows, between the ponies and the wagon wheels it seems that the shadows are radiating out a bit more than they would from a single light source, but it may just be the one wheel in the background. The apple buckets are also throwing me off a bit, at first I thought that they looked like they were sloping backwards a bit, but my main critique is that they are very uniform in placement (makes sense from a stacking perspective) but the repeated geometric pattern draws a lot of attention to itself in such an organic work. I don't know if you intended for sheets of plywood or something between the layers of buckets, but if not throwing a couple of apples into the tops of the lower bucket tiers could help alleviate some of the repetition. Love the background and color palette by the way.

This is BEAUTIFUL. A lovely autumn picture. Since you're asking, I think your composition is fine. My only suggestion might be to add more highlight to Applejack, using the light of the setting sun, to help her "pop"more. You might try a *bit* of that with Big Mac also. But I'd focus it more on Applejack, to make her more visible and strengthen the diagonal of the composition. You might also add a bit more color to her, especially her mane (put a little yellow in there, perhaps), and that would help her visibility and the diagonal too. But the picture is really pretty darn awesome as it is. May I ask what medium you used?
